Tbh this is quite realistic just bc they love eachother doesn't mean everything is settled sure they both have their own problems ML has sacrificed a lot for MC it's valid for him to feel bad to hear things from other abt MC but MC is also anxious ofc why won't he be anyone would be if u see ur partner sacrificing everything he also feels like he's the cause of it I understand both of them they just need to have a long conversation assure eachother bc both of their points and feelings are valid
