I read this in 1 sitting. Honestly, I did not really like this. I would not recommend.
In the beginning, it was kind of cute and I liked how she was a pretty girl and he was like average or whatever and they end up forming this cutie little bond and getting to know each other and everything and they felt well rounded, and the story was refreshing. Midway through the story at chapter 24/25, there is a shocking plot twist that ruined the rest of the story for me.

Finding out that she had a boyfriend and was basically cheating on him with the male lead was diabolical. I hate cheating. I hate cheating potlines it immediately ruined the story for me. And I was thinking OK maybe she's gonna go break up with him or something or give an explanation as to why she was w him. Come to find out her boyfriend is ridiculously abusive and hits her and she was OK with him hitting her because he used to only do it when he was drunk, which makes zero sense why are you OK with somebody actually abusing you you're so stupid. And especially when she has the male lead why was she doing all of that like it made zero sense to me. And basically she just starts an affair with the male lead and he is OK with being the side chick??? just ridiculous writing. And legitimately the other half of the comic is just their affair and then the male lead getting depressed and then getting skinny. And then literally the last chapter is a summary of what happened behind the scenes and her breaking up with the abusive boyfriend and then her and the male lead getting together. What the F? Like seriously why did any of that even need to happen? Why couldn't the author have just kept it at that cute little story that it was in the beginning like why did you have to add this crazy abuse boyfriend cheating plotline like that was so disturbing and unnecessary for such a low stakes story.
Anyway, I don't recommend this because what the heck.
I will literally defend this story with my whole chest. I know it's taking forever but having read the books the timeline just makes sense. This whole story up until this point is literally just the first half. Everything important actually starts happening following this trial. The real character development from all of the characters is coming very soon. The story is slow paced. It's not supposed to be fast. And seriously, I don't know what kind of development we're expecting from emotionally stunted orphans.
Like every single time he listens to her and lets her do something reckless she almost dies. He spent his whole life, shutting everyone out, and the last person that made it into his heart before it hardened was her. I will admit that he is problematic and shuts her out too much, but I think this is a symptom that comes from the severe lack of communication from both ends. The problem isn't that he loves her too much, it's that he loves her more than she loves herself. I feel like at this stage in the story you can still see how much she dislikes herself and how much she's willing to risk just to be able to be proud of the person who stares back at her in the mirror. And it totally sucks overall, but unfortunately, she really does need to do her own thing in order for her to grow as a character and whether he likes it or not it is gonna happen. But obviously that's gonna create a lot of tension. Anyways the angst that follows this is legitimately agonizing, but the end result of this story is phenomenal. OK please bear with me.
