SCP is quite literally our world's DER, it is a collaboration wiki between fans of horror who write their own entries and tales based around a fictional organization (the scp foundation). The in-lore "phenomenon" of this universe (from monsters, to bizarre happenings, to world-ending scenarios) and what is most popular is often called SCPs and denominated with numbers: SCP-701, SCP-5000, etc! The universe in itself is not solely just one organization though, as it also has other parties/organizations and even cults! Also, despite the most popular side of this space being the "creature" entries, there's also novel series and books written by all kinds of people and doing their own take on things!

Some arcs like the Looky Mart seem to be directly correlated to real SCP entries like the infinite IKEA: SCP-3008! And other things like the hierarchy of the security/field exploration team/research/administration pyramid resembling SCP's own hierarchy classes: Class E(contaminated/infected)/D(expendable personnel) /Class C(tactical staff, guards, researchers)/Class B(essential staff, senior researchers)/Class A(O5 Council, Admin).
"Named Characters" are also a huge thing!! Most randoms used for a story are glossed over, [redacted] or censored, so whenever you see a name pop up it is a sign that this character is important in it's own rights or soon will be! Then, it becomes a matter of pattern: you can trace their life-timeline through entries and tales and thru different people's takes on them! It's rlly cute I think ^^
SCP is also quite famous for it's memetic/info hazard horror spins and for utilizing corporate greed into turning deadly phenomenon into useful items! Certain items even become strictly known to be used by named characters too!
Despite being a bit outdated, SCP-2521 is a good example of a funny memetic SCP, as it's entry tries to convey information on this information-hungry-creature only thru signage as to not make you prune to being consumed >.<!

Please do not take this as me saying GSGW is unoriginal or uninspiring, as I actually quite admire it for taking it's own spin on these horror tropes and going beyond with it! ( ◡_◡)ᕤ Sorry for the ramble, I am a big fan of both universes! AND FREAKING LOVE GSGW!!!
