taekjoo does not have stockholm syndrome at any point in the story

He pities zhenya who is literally trying to kill him, that's a sign of Stockholm syndrome. Especially, in the novel how he begins to accept and then coexisting with zhenya

But if he just can't escape after multiple tries, he will just have to accept it and try living with it in order to survive don't you think. Taekjoo is trying his best to survive

He doesn’t pity him in the way that he has sympathy for him, it’s pity in the way that he looks down on him. Look up the word “pitiful”

Again taekjoo never once ends up with stockholm syndrome taekjoo is aware he what zhenya has done to him is immoral and messed up and he never once forgives him for it , people who have stockholm syndrome often want to go back to their offenders but taekjoo doesn’t , once he escapes he never goes looking for zhenya and the only reason they meet again is due to zhenya being the one looking for him and even when they do meet again taekjoo has no intention of staying around zhenya and as well as the fact it takes taekjoo so long after everything that has happened to actually like zhenya

And during part 2 of the novel i feel as though 100% that taekjoo has the option of leaving , even when taekjoo has chosen his job over zhenya and left zhenya has accepted it because he knows how much taekjoos job means to him

I also think you need to realise that stockholm syndrome is not actually an official medical or psychiatric diagnosis , there’s no real meaning to it

Some novel writers fr just be making the most unique weird dumb mf cuz reality NO ONE would date their rapist or abuser like Zhenya. Like you really really really gotta think dumb to understand taekjoo’s relationship with Zhenya.

Yes it is a psychological term for a victim ending up with their abuser. Which is what happens to taekjoo, he can leave zhenya in the novel to die on the island but he comes back to him. He develops positive feelings for the abuser, which can be identified as Stockholm syndrome.

True, but it's still a feeling of sadness/sorrow, in this case for someone who trying to kill you. And they end up together at the end.

Stockholm syndrome isn’t actually real though it’s just trauma responses , it’s not just a victim ending up with their abuser it’s other deep complex situations and I don’t get what you mean by taekjoo coming back to zhenya because like I said taekjoo left the island and never once thought about going back to zhenya , and even when they do reunite Taekjoo lets it happen for his own use , he uses zhenya to help his own situation with his corrupt director and lets zhenya stay because he assumes zhenya will get bored of him and leave.

They end up together but mind u it takes taekjoo till like volume 9 - 10 to actually develop romance towards zhenya and right now we’re at volume 3

Yes, he develops or becomes resolved to be with zhenya in volume 9/10. In volume 10, taekjoo is told by his Korean friend that the Russian family will go kill Zhenya and taekjoo goes to zhenya willingly as he says to Olga [Even if you’re not wanted, you’re already in a corner. There’s nowhere else to retreat.]
[There’s no choice. Anyway, if I meet that guy, won’t things work out somehow?]. I undestand Stockholm syndrome is not a real mental diagnosis, but it is a term used, especially in these written fiction stories , to describe the victim ending up with the abuser.

How so? You believe the term doesn't exist so why does it upset you for people to use the word to describe a victim ending up with an abuser.

I’m saying the term isn’t real , it doesn’t upset me I just think people throw the term around when they don’t know what they’re talking about. I stand on my point that taekjoo does not have Stockholm syndrome and if u want more explanation as to why you should watch the video @codenameyuki made on it
