As I've read the novel, I hated the scene where the ml was drunk and unconsciously muttering his confession to jun young while mistaking chi young as jun young, and there isn't even any arcs redeeming my perspective on the ml, like they just got together and boom thats it, theres no chasing arc, redemption arc nada, and the way chi young just takes all of it is so pathetic like girl its okay sometimes to be selfish and have some dignity will you? and one thing I also REALLY hate is how the ml used chi young as a rebound to get over jun young, anyways if yall wanna read the angst but don't want to wait for new chapter of the manwha read the novel version. ( ̄へ ̄)
When I read that scene, I actually read it as he was confessing to Junyoung that he's starting to like Chiyoung but doesn't want to or hesitant to because he believes Chiyoung deserves better than him cause he's precious and all but he's having a hard time holding it in. All he could do was make this nonsense drunk rant to Junyoung (but he's so stupid cause he ranted to Chiyoung instead)
When Chiyoung left (cause he went to his mom) ML went batshit crazy and even punched Junyeoung and Kanghee cause he thought they were hiding him hahaahha
I don’t think you read the novel right, tbh it sounds like your bias towards the ML made you skim over the actual events. The part where he talked in his sleep about his feelings, it’s revealed later that that part was him thinking about MC, and how his feelings started changing, him kinda being reluctant and resisting those feelings.
There’s no actual redemption arc because the mc never felt the ML wronged him or owed him anything. The MC was simply happy to be his friend. There was a CHASING arc, but it wasn’t the way you expected it to be, it was more natural and not the kind where he’s begging on his knees for mc’s affection. The chasing part is the entirety of him hanging out with mc, planning hang outs, trying to see mc more often without needing junyoung around, helping him clean the food and close up shop, clearing his debt, etc.
ML also never used MC as a rebound. That’s the point of the story. It showed he had liked junyoung for a long time, but those feelings became mellowed out and he understood it would never happen, giving up was part of that process. The chapter showing his point of view showed he first became attracted to mc at the hotel that one time, and how he decided he wanted to treat mc well as a new important person in his life. His focus ENTIRELY shifted to mc, not because he was a replacement. He even got angry at junyoung when he found out that junyoung knew the dangerous environment mc was working in, and even punched junyoung showing he valued mc more than his friends.

Finally in my opinion I’m happy mc didn’t act all mad or made ML grovel like all those other stories. Because realistically, ML wasn’t obligated to return his feelings. MC was VERY happy to just be friends with ML. Though I will point out that it wasn’t like it was easy for ML. ML had plenty of moments where he got frustrated when he realized mc didn’t know he was showing affection and wanting to date him.
Oh and one more thing: the word “rebound” typically refers to a person who is suffering from their unrequited love or past relationship, and they decide to immediately have sex or date a new person. So that rebound assumption wouldn’t apply here since ML built their friendship first and spent time with him before even touching or dating him.

I can now sleep peacefully (/TДT)/
