I'm scrolling thru the comments and ppl seem to hate ruby, but she's childish for a reason. She never had any social interactions that were normal for her age (chatting with friends, crushing over boys in her class that were her age, etc). She developed a dependency/obsession on Ai as a coping mechanism and attached herself to the only person that paid her any attention when she was alive, her doctor. She living a horribly short, uneventful and lonely life, and I think she honestly doesn't care abt Aqua technically being her brother bc they were full àss ppl with complete personalities before being reincarnated. She's acting spoiled and bratty because she's literally a child that never got to experience adulthood--everyone around her has always treated her like a child. Aqua is like an adult in his 40s by now, he treats his "sister" more like a coddled child. He feeds this unhealthy dependency on him from his "sister" because he understands this is the continued life of a very unhappy and lonely little girl. The incest is crazy gross to read regardless, but this is all to characterize ruby's actions/behavior in context.
I can't get into this webtoon bc the male lead just sounds awful... None of what he's doing sounds like it's for her despite the weird tone of the webtoon of "ooo the male lead is changing her life for the better" be so fr rn...
It is for her though. Given how destroyed and miserable she was at the beginning and how she couldn’t hold her head high against the people who made her life a living hell, the way she’s behaving now shows that all the tests and shxt he’s been giving her have worked tremendously. Especially when you think about the way she was able to converse with her former husband in the latest chapters.
The only thing now is that the ML isn’t typically kind or enamored with her since he too lost someone he loved so he comes off as cold because he doesn’t want to venture there. Not to mention that his powers work best through sex so I’ve noticed that it makes it hard for some readers to grasp that that’s just his power and not him taking advantage. If nothing else, she’s the one enjoying it the most because she has feelings for him.
You're right, maybe manipulative isn't the right word. Maybe it's the fact the MLs actions seem cringe more than anything and so the FLs reaction of "oh *swoon* ily thank you!!!" Doesn't make any sense he's so cocky and sometimes so condescending... "I'm a prince I'm royalty I do what I want including fcking you" and she's just "omfg yes you healed my heart with your penis" be so fr
Condescending, yes, but it’s not cocky when he can back it up. He is a powerful man who can quite literally wield the power of a god, most of which works through sex. He brought her back from the brink of death and changed her entire physical appearance. It makes sense for anyone with that much power to condescend. Hell, I’d be condescending too if I had that much power and were facing people whose fragile lives could depend on me.
While I do wish that she wouldn’t have fallen for him so quickly, it makes sense that she did given her fragile state of mind in the beginning. Plus no one ever did anything FOR her until he came along and quite literally saved her life before giving her a new path to life, with goals that made her appreciate the person she’s turning out to be.
Also I think it can be hard to accurately judge the story because the translation isn’t the greatest. However the characters’ backstories and drive are pretty consistent with the way they behave in any given situation.
To loop in anyone else confused, the author is a creep and pedo, he followed around middle school girls in a bike and "approached" them before running away. He was arrested for reports of him touching a middle school girl inappropriately. I'm happy he got fired, but so disappointed this manga will never have an end :(
Fired is inaccurate.
He is not an employee of Weekly Playboy. He his an artist and Playboy, an editorial company who accepts to support his work through their platform.
Author are like "incorporated" or self-employed individuals rather than employee. Nobody would ever imagine the Author of Harry Potter being "fired" if her publisher decided to cancel her work.
Rather than fired, he is ripping the consequences of a breach of contract - contract which gives the publisher significant rights over the materials published under their editorial leadership.
So I'm not looking for spoilers but I honestly believe that in this "hard mode" version of the game, "100%" certainly means smt awful for the FL/player. It's not "100%" adoration like in easy mode, it's maybe more twisted like obsession or possessiveness or aggression. So in eclis' case it's 100% of a dark "love" where he betrayed his own people to be freed so he may stay with the FL, even bringing in the actual daughter so she'll be casted out and he can be with her
First chapter in a while where I've seen her smile genuinely and it's bc she's finally escaped from that man that manipulated and controlled her their entire relationship... He deluded himself into thinking he loves her when he really just liked having someone to play with like a doll. Never once gave her feelings a consideration so she escaped and now he's throwing a mantantrum... (╯°Д °)╯╧╧
I think I love this webtoon so much Idec that it's these fun mini filler chapters. Reading it gives me so much joythank u for the author's that bless my eyes and work so hard to post even thru a hiatus of the main storyline. Hope god treats y'all kindly
