I know why the emperor forgot Estel still i stand my own opinion, he can ask than feel wary of the spirit.
I know he afraid something will happen with Estel because child with emerald eyes all of them not have good life. But he can see the way Estel treat the spirit much better than Estel treat the emperor at the first time. She already said more than once the spirit is her friend.
