just saw the raws for chapter 15 and imo this feels more and more like potential Yuri. It's Gaon's birthday and Kihyun has zero idea what to get her for a present so he uses Doyoung. Doyoung helps him for the whole gift and then he forces doyoung to not give Gaon a gift, but only a mechanical pencil. Doyoung lies and tells Gaon she forgot her birthday. Then Kihyun gives Gaon the gift and Gaon goes home genuinely surprised on how thoughtful and attentive the gift is...but she starts to connect the dots...Kihyun was never this attentive or thoughtful and she realizes our beautiful one and only Doyoung was behind it all.....</3
She’s either going to be upset thinking ML is using FL as a spy so she can’t confide in FL anymore or she’ll experience negative feelings for the first time in her life in knowing ML has someone else he can actually interact with. That would actually be an interesting twist since she’s appeared to be so pure in her kindness. Might even trigger FL to act selfishly for herself down the line.
lol I gave up trying to understand that, especially when I saw it happening in seinen/shounen action types of manwha/mangas/webtoons. I personally like reading yaoi/BL, but I’ve never once shipped same sex folks when I read straight stories, so I barely understand it myself. It’s probably just wishful thinking on their part.
It can be frustrating if that’s all you see in the comment section because it means they’re not actually discussing the chapter as it was intended, but that mostly happens on mangago rather than other sites. It’s better to just accept it’s part of how people are and stay focused on the actual narrative.
it is mircoagressive because you know damn well that’s question is meant in a condescending tone. the author is KNOWN to put wlw/queer-like themes in their stories (i.e dreaming freedom). so i don’t understand why people is SHOCKED when readers are starting to ship doyoung and gaon instead because the author intentionally gave them more chemistry THAN the main couple right now. gaon and doyoung has more growth in their relationship than kihyun and doyoung will ever have. but we know the author loves to queerbait so author will likely force gaon into a mean girl for a het couple. so don’t be so shocked when an author uses queerbait and the readers start shipping same sex characters instead because THEY GOT MORE CHEMISTRY.
Personally I didn’t finish Dreaming Freedom yet, so I wouldn’t have known they had Yuri or yaoi in there. Up to where I read it, FL and her childhood friend/former bully were still hating each other. So your comment just assumes everyone knows the author’s other work.
My understanding of the person’s comment questioning the obsession with Yuri and yaoi shipping in straight stories is that they weren’t asking just for this story specifically. They were wondering why it ALWAYS happens no matter what we read, as if to negate any semblance of sisterhood or bromance between the characters simply because they’re of the same sex. That shxt gets tiring especially in stories that aren’t even about romance, though that’s beside the point.
So while I can understand why you’re thinking everyone must know this author blurs the lines between straight and gay relationships, it is not actually as obvious as you’re stating. Girls can just be friends without it having a yuri connotation. In this story specifically, Nothing about their interaction up to this point suggested otherwise. To me the top comment looked like nothing but wishful thinking. They got romantic chemistry to you. They have friendship to me.
Also, authors typically plan out their big storylines or character portrayals in advance. Saying she’s going to force Gaon into something is the kind of statement that I find, undermines someone’s work to fit the narrative you have in your head like it’s not the same person who wrote it from start to finish.
who are you asking, genuinely? you said "y'all" but you're replying under my post. If your genuine question is towards me, then here's my answer: First, I don't want everything to be gay. If I see two characters who have better chemistry, better flow, demonstrate vulnerability and trust, then I'm going to see potential between those two characters, it just happens these two characters are gaon and doyoung who also happen to be, girls. I genuinely tried to answer even though your question was generalizing the masses in a rude way. I honestly did not mean to offend anyone in my original post...
It also sucks when that person's takeaway from my post was only focusing on me saying yuri and run with the this person "wants everything to be gay" narrative when my whole post was highlighting how much doyoung listens, and understands gaon to get her the perfect gift that even gaon was able to see it was from her, so its also frustrating to be completely brushed over imo but yeah whatever
I think you missed the #genuinequestion. Project to a wall about your imaginary microaggression. Your idea of romantic chemistry might be someone else's friendly or queerplatonic chemistry. It's not SHOCK, it's genuine curiosity according to the commenter, whose word you distrust.
Also, you can't objectively measure whose relationship has got more growth because each develops with unique criteria. I would argue Kihyeon's and Doyoung's relationship with each other has grown equally if not more rapidly and aggressively than Doyoung and Gaon's, since Kihyeon went from wanting her removed at all costs to now feeling like he needs her to relate to Gaon. She's necessary to him. That's some type of chemistry to me.
While Gaon already had an inclination towards Gaon before telling her she wanted to be a forever part of her life.
Kihyun and Gaon feel and show connection in different ways dependent on their upbringing and perception of loss.
how does she not get the ick when he yells at her like a baboon, his breath probably stink too. I hope she wakes up after this and moves schools then time skip. I liked how her aplogoloy made him realize what a clown he is. I know its not the friends fault, but this trio is toxic no matter what bc of him, so she needs to leave both and stand tf up for herself
I feel like chapter 5-34 could have been an email...I mean its a good read if you're bored but yk its your basic isekai where the males will all lover her bc she's not the OG and somehow even on an island she's like a Mary sue who knows how to hunt and do it all. its not bad but let it marinate until it ends to make a full review
dropping this at ch 32, I was so excited starting this because this is one of my favorite tropes when they isekai to be with their fav who happens to be a second ml or background character but everything seemed so shallow. For example, the moment she woke up everyone was super interested in her and you can already predict they'll all going to be chasing after her (ok I know this is the outcome for all stories like this but this one was like level 1 easy, I hope I make sense?). I was getting more and more annoyed at how her and her bias never really had a real conversation before or after the wedding. Or if she was going to say something reassuring to him, she would get cut off ugh, is the author afraid or lazy to actually make them developed? Or maybe I should read the novel instead? im not sure. I think I just expected something like Death Is The Only Ending For The Villainess where the characters act how they're suppose to, not instantly fall in love the moment they see her and start acting brand new. There's also a lot of characters I don't care for, I wanted more quality moments between the main leads. The kids are cute though and she's not a bad fl but eh
