I hate how some people get upset with comments that are angry with the Blondie. And I understand but at the same time they’re not entirely invalid, the problem isn’t even the fact that the Blondie didn’t like Seojoon back but how he barely knows Seojoon despite knowing him for TWELVE years. “How could the blondie know Seojoon’s feelings when…” yeah it’s not just about that bro, after the conflict it was literally said that Blondie never gave himself a chance to know Seojoon thoroughly, never asked about him or pried. Meanwhile in the flashbacks it’s been said that the Blondie is incapable of listening when Seojoon is talking. Seojoon already knows what he wants them to be, the Blondie is the only one who needs to figure himself out and be more ATTENTIVE.
Exactly! That’s why the orange juice was very symbolic. Blondie knows that he “likes” sparkling water, which is why, in the end, he was dumbfounded when he saw Seojoon grab the orange juice and heard that he drinks orange juice all the time. It looks like just a small detail showing how he doesn’t know anything about him, but it played a huge role in the idea of their 12-year friendship, that all this time, Blondie only saw himself and did not give any importance to their relationship because he was already confident in what he thought he saw, yet he never truly observed.
No literally, and people are like “How is blondie supposed to know Seojoon likes him if he hid it” like how are you going to expect Seojoon to be honest when the problem (being that the blondie is still stuck on his first love) presents itself in front of him, it’s a deal breaker for most people to confess to someone who’s in love with someone else, obviously he’s going to hide it cause he knew what he’d be risking

Hyesung will never be understood. [Spoilers warning This is going to be long so buckle up]
To start things off, i’m not going to excuse this story’s problem with handling consent, and how Dojin is not held accountable for his actions. I hate the narrative of this story as much as the next guy.
Back in 2018-19, people hated Hyesung so much for constantly running away from Dojin and for repeatedly putting himself in stressful situations all because he couldn’t accept that he was an Omega. Many readers just refused to acknowledge how he spent all his life believing that he was an Alpha despite the doubts that was planted unto him by his father because it was the only redeeming quality of himself that he could be proud of. Of course he was going to “overreact”, being an Omega makes him susceptible to being attacked verbally and/or physically.
Not to mention, Hyesung didn’t find out he was an Omega by realising it in a safe and secure way, he learns it after being raped by a stranger. He barely had time to process the assault after a whole new identity was forced onto him. And people expected him to just go with it, it never made sense to me. On top of that, he was bonded without realising it, nothing that he and Dojin did (other than sex) should result to them building a lifelong bond but it happened anyway.
At this point, we can see that throughout the whole story, it’s so clear that Hyesung lacks control of his own life, he had no real choices to make, he’s poor and he’s a Recessive Omega, his future is dictated by biological rules and social condition. He has NO choice. He had a shitty family who abandoned him, he’s tied to his rapist, has zero support system and he’s completely alone.
This lack of agency becomes more apparent when Hyesung gets pregnant with Dojin’s child and once again, his body makes another life-altering decision that he isn’t emotionally ready for. He wasn’t given much time to process what this could mean for him, not as an Omega but as a parent. And what could Hyesung possibly know about being a parent with the way he was raised.
So when people criticised Hyesung for “choosing” to stay with Dojin, I was so frustrated and annoyed. Hyesung’s love for Dojin didn’t come from freedom, it came from survival. Hyesung didn’t have anyone else. In a world where every option was stripped off of him, Hyesung didn’t come to Dojin for romantic optimism.. it was simply the only path that allowed him to keep going.
Hyesung’s fear and hesitation were seen as ungrateful by many readers back then. Nowadays they just call him hypocritical for “choosing” Dojin.
Anyway, i’d really love it if people would spread this narrative about Hyesung from Love is an Illusion to others readers or platforms.
My baby deserves justice and i’m so upset by how waterdowned his character has become, and how his trauma (not just from Dojin but from his family also) was invalidated just because the fans leaned towards Dojin and the author followed through.

100% agree. It seriously confuses me how people call hyesung annoying when he didn’t do a single thing wrong. Imagine believing you’re part of the highest status group in society only to fall from grace OVERNIGHT, and suddenly be treated like dogshit by everyone in society. Nothing about him changed except for some words on paper, yet society switched up on him so fast which is genuinely devastating and not talked about nearly enough in the fandom. People forget that companies wouldn’t hire hyesung simply bcs he’s an omega- which further makes Dojin such a privileged piece of shit for taking advantage of this fact and offering Hyesung a roof over his head and basic living expenses if he carried this child HE DIDNT WANT! Dojin literally convinced Hyesung out of getting an abortion which Hyesung agreed to UNDER THE CONDITION that he would be left alone after the birth only for his autonomy to be stripped yet again, and his life ruined bcs of circumstances he couldn’t control (the bonding and Dojin’s entitlement) SPEAKING OF DOJIN- BRO FELT SO ENTITLED TO HAVE EVERYTHING HANDED TO HIM!! He was entitled to use Hyesung’s body to deliver a child, to force Hyesung to be a father when he never wanted to be, ENTITLED TO HYESUNG’S ENTIRE BEING BECAUSE HYESUNG HAS NEVER MADE A DECISION IN HIS LIFE THAT WASNT IGNORED, DISREPECTED, OR BLOCKED BY DOJIN

Ikr, people miss the fact that Hyesung had zero choices in this story and is constantly at a disadvantage, he got baby trapped ffs I will forever love Love is an Illusion despite how controversial it is to some people cause I genuinely think it’s a realistic take on the concept of power dynamics in the Omegaverse. I feel kinda crazy comparing Omegas to women in real life but I don’t think i’m that far off, Hyesung’s situation is a real unfornate experience for some women out here, these omegas need to revolt (Yes, WE are getting political about the Omegaverse)

You are absolutely right, I liked hyesung better than all other ukes who always go into self blame when put in same situation as hyesung here ( not there fault, there environment made them so vulnerable) but same narrative overtime becomes boring, atleast hyesung never self blamed, he seemed materialistic but in a world where every way is either blocked or abandoned, money seems more reliable. If anything I feel like hyesung would never be with dojin if not for bond, they've nothing in common other than sex, and hyesung sexual orientation was also little bit sus, like is he gay?
I actually think Hyesung self blamed by the end of the man story because he apologizes for “abandoning his kid like his mom did to him” WHEN IT WASNT THE SAME AT ALL. Hyesung agreed to carry Dijon’s child under the condition that he would be left alone after BUT STUPID ENTITLED ASS DOJIN ONLY SAID THAT TO TRAP HIM AND TAKE AWAY ANY AUTONOMY HYESUNG MAY HAVE HAD OVER HIS LIFE. We often forget Hyesung is in his early 20’s, deeply traumatized, and going through some major life changes- of course he isn’t ready to care for a child. Yet Dojin doesn’t care about his circumstances and essentially forces Hyesung into fatherhood. To which hyesung NATURALLY tries to leave the country then comes back running APOLOGIZING FOR LEAVING CALLING HIMSELF IRRESPONSIBLE RATHER THAN UNDERSTANDING THAT DOJIN DID THIS TO HIMSELF! Dojin is the irresponsible one bro he just feels entitled to other people’s lives without considering how it might affect them, or how they might feel. BY THE WAY: everyone treated Hyesung like dogshit both during pregnancy and postpartum. It was played for laughs but it disgusted me. Dojin’s best friend was constantly calling Hyesung ugly, disgusting, and a burden WHILE PREGNANT. THE WAY I WOULD ACTUALLY INCINERATE THIS MAN IN REAL LIFE THE AUDACITY . Then post partum nobody took care of Hyesung, instead he was stressed, shamed, and guilt tripped after going through LITERAL BIRTH. This story makes me so angry and the lack of media literacy from fans drives me nuts
You're right, I was mostly talking about start if you read stories with poor ukes you will notice how much low self-esteem they have, like they always somehow find ways to blame themselves, even though hyesung blamed himself later but he quickly recovered from it. I think hyesung never put his worth in how beautiful he was , hell he didn't even think of himself as an omega, that's why it never bothered him when others called him ugly. I am not saying it's a good thing but his insensitivity towards his looks helped him a lot . Love the new chapter so far! I feel bad for the Su-Ah but i’m on Juhyeok’s side, I understand his reluctance and distaste because he has every right to feel the way he feels about Su-Ah. Having read the author’s previous works, I might have to let it marinate because their stories are so beautifully infuriating and bittersweet;; with misunderstandings and lack of communication being the top fuel for the dynamics of their characters T T. Those two nightmare tropes + cliffhangers might end with me hanging myself off of a cliff
