Reading this hurt me so bad. Literally my heart physically hurt. They both obviously care about each other. I genuinely think that if the prince just romanced Luce like a normal sane person, Luce might actually be ok with staying with him & not going back to Vera (obvs still out of the palace). Instead this prince has only ever thought that the only way to get what he wants is to manipulate & hurt other people by way of purposefully creating these dire situations where Luce literally doesn’t have a choice but to cave in & do what he wants. I understand that as the crown prince, there are things he can’t have officially and there are certain measures he has to set in place to make sure he’s safe. But none of this warrants him hurting Luce repeatedly like this. I’m so conflicted on how to feel. If the story wasn’t so well written and the art & storyboarding wasn’t so beautiful, I definitely would’ve dropped this a while ago. Why do they have to show the yearning so damn cinematically. I hate that their first time together was like that. It made me so sick. If the prince doesn’t have some kind of arc where he realizes he fucked up really bad and somehow redeems himself fully…

I think ppl forgot k cares about power bc he knows that if he climbs ranks and becomes more powerful, he’ll have more weight behind certain decisions or policies. He saw firsthand how ppl choose to let others die/suffer (the situation with Jerome being one of them). I think it’s interesting how some ppl view k’s ambition and his relationship with Fabian as purely self-serving as if there hasn’t already been multiple scenes where k expresses he cares for Fabian and wants the best for him (like how he purposefully guides Fabian in such a way that he’s no traumatized by seeing his hallucinations of Jerome bc Fabian doesn’t have to experience the penalty). Not everyone shows their affection in the same way.

Tbh I think part of the struggle here is tei’s sense of self esteem due to socialization. He grew up in a place where he constantly had to prove his worth, so he always maintains the thought that he must be able to do something for someone or be something for someone in order to be worthy, useful, etc. While I hope shuraka is able to clear up misunderstandings and give tei a stronger sense of duty/worth as his partner, I hope tei comes to understand how important and loved he is himself, even if he can’t fulfill everything <3

I love given sm :’) ik lots of ppl won’t agree with me, but I just love how realistic natsuki writes them. Ofc, the traditional route in relationships is to eventually live together, share a room, maybe be affectionate all the time? Like I feel like that’s what ppl assume happens. But fr lots of lovers sleep separately, esp if they have diff schedules (like ue and mafuyu). Fights also happen a lot even after establishing a relationship. Yes, there’s miscommunication too which is very frustrating ik but it’s not like life is gonna be perfect and there’s never going to be another moment where you’re not gonna disagree or have differing goals, especially when it’s about things you really care about. Anyway, I wish given would never end
