The action and core plot are so strong, which is why the sudden shift in tone during Lady Laia's (?) introduction felt a bit jarring. It's a minor detail in the grand scheme of things. Sometimes these minor, unnecessary additions distract from an otherwise great story.
While the initial regression premise is engaging and the art style is exceptionally well-done, I have decided to discontinue reading.
The inclusion of a "childhood reverse harem" dynamic introduces romantic undertones at a stage where the characters are still kiddos!! And creating.. an uncomfortable power imbalance that distracts from an otherwise amazing plot. For readers who enjoy this specific trope, it is a beautifully illustrated series.
