i used to be really attracted to this manhwa primarily because of the art, secondarily bc of nan's self sufficiency and unreliability in many aspects lol but now.... the art took a turn for the worse? or rather it's simplicity took away its initial appeal—what was once felt detailed bodies and delicate expressions now feel,,, airbrushed, in a sense. i don't know how to describe it exactly, the artstyle gave the characters a sort of delicate strength and a sort of imagined daintiness and maybe its just me but yeah I dont know if it's lack of passion or what but it's saddening, along with the decline of everyone's characters in the story
What I hate the most is the entire Captive thing I was really hoping something good would happen, but Nan is acting so stupid and J is even worse. It's seems like they switched bodies. Character Development is important, but I just don't like this one.
reread this cause I was curious why I dropped it and ahhh yes. the flimsiest chemistry ever. all the best for any unhealthy fictional relationships but the constant suicide baiting and the way the story tried to spin this as romantic and compatible was sooo funny and i was giggling as noah released the 294938 suicide threat and then mason did the same thing in the end. also yeah this guy (mason) is so repressed he can't admit his bisexuality till he's in a situation where he can have /plausible denialibility. (oh and the throwaway homophobic 'you're not like the other gays cause (insert derogatory stereotype)' line by vic proctor was fucking annoying)

rlly surprised at how well (understanding and empathetic yet draws back no punches and still be respectful) they depicted an abusive rs and coercive SA and survivors of abuse. like, do I have beef with some of the story beats? yes, but the gradual reveal of og sihyeon trauma and past is rlly done well. i dont think non suicidal people would get this but begrudging a suicidal person for their decision as some sort of morally bad crime is stigmatising and I dont want to take away power and agency from a mentally spiralling individual despite him being fictional so imma say that I wish society as a whole, but especially to queer folk, orphans, lower SES people, be kinder to prevent such deaths.
and can we say that being in sihyeon body actually made mc happier ? im not saying his og life was all horrid but it was devoid of a lot of human connection most of the time
