im so conflicted abt this,, honestly just wish that haesoo would find someone better for him.
as much as i enjoy taku’s character, he’s quite clearly manipulative in ways that aren’t always obvious but that’s why i find him interesting. there’s a comment not far below mine which explains it better:)

however i think the relationship he has with joowon isn’t all that better? i think the fact they’re step brothers probably initially put me off it,, whether they’re blood related or not, they considered each other family/brothers at a point so it never rlly sat right with me. i think joowon’s character definitely had development and that he grew more mature but i think before that point, there was damage already done. it was nice to see him change and put more effort in,, but too late in my opinion.

I understand your opinion! and I respect it~ if you're put off by their step brother past, you're put off by it and it is what it is... no changing that. imo its a morally gray area

however from my understanding, they never saw each other brothers/siblings. Rather Joowon tried very hard to PRETEND they were, in order to stop making their parent's suspicious. And ofc Haesoo outright HATED IT. Like he got pissed when Joowon introduced him as his step-bro in school. And when Joowon and Haesoo are fighting, Joowon says something like "You're making it so obvious to them!" (them as in the parents. joowon was scared the parents would sense something is not right between them. jw was trying his best to paint a nice fake family picture for them because to him: this was his way of protecting what he and haesoo had). I remember Haesoo even called Joowon brother in order to taunt/tease him at one point. It was like a dark joke between these 16 year old boys that didn't see each other in any way other than romantically, but were pushed together by their parents without choice. That is how I read it as.
It's why adult Haesoo also says "I always imagine us being normal siblings"... because like. they CANT be that yknow? even though he desperately wants that, believing it'll make life easier for all of them.
I respect your opinion but I don't agree with it.
1. They've never seen each other as brothers. They were two teen boys put under the same roof. They didn't grow up together, no psychological bond. Lived 3 years with each other and their parents divorced 7 years ago. No, they won't remarry.
2. But the whole point of the story was that although many obstacles, society's views, other problems...passing years etc they still were in love with each other. They've changed, got other partners, met other people... they Still loved each other. They have been even seperated for few years after divorce... Still they came back to each other.
That's the point. Their relationship started under not favourable circumstances. Their family situation heavily impacted and twisted it.
But now they reflected on their mistakes, their past, on their relationship in general... And they chose their love. Not society's views or their parents'.

i think i meant more so because they were initially introduced to each other as brothers (whether they at one point saw each other like that, i cant say),, i do agree with your points tho and definitely that the sibling relationship came more forced than natural..

ur second point i partly agree with.. i think if they hadn’t met each other through those circumstances, i would likely support it a bit more,, again, im not a fan of the whole step sibling kind of relationship;(
i personally don’t think their relationship is great but in some ways i can see why the felt the way they did for each other- they definitely developed so i don’t mind it so much as i did initially:)
this plot was so good,, there are a few psychological ones ive read that are terrible but this was wowow.
i honestly understand his character and the neglect he experienced,, just wanting someone to believe in him and treat him like a human- not something expected to be of such perfection. obviously it’s rare for them to become so tragic like this but his attachment made sense. [im not condoning his actions btw!]

am crying for kou because it must be so difficult for him to see and listen to all this (chap74),,, i can’t imagine how much he’s struggling to accept it:(
