There are things that you need to make a character complete, and things that will only get the story longer without a point.
Then things you just listed are the second kind. We don't always need to know everything graphically presented, when it has already left clear enough with specific implications.
The important people that needed to react to the "gay" thing, are already there. It's not like we don't know how a family that horrifies at the idea of porn and the other one that never had any consideration with their son reacts about something obviously stated.
This story is perfect as it is. No extra, unnecessary turns, that will turn this into a story full of unresolved angst.
