Dropped after chapter 4, and honestly, after chapter 3, I was already considering but I am so...confused. The comments seem to really like it and theres good reviews but I don't understand. The character motivations, or more specifically the Uke, make no sense to me.
Why tf doesn't the uke just kick the seme out of his house after pulling that off in the FIRST NIGHT?
The seme has NO leverage over the uke, he's a freeloader who is asking for a favour. And yet, he is acting like an entitled child. Immediately comes in, makes a mess, disregards the uke objections, then rapes him on his couch, and the next day, cooks him a garbage dinner with the tomato plant that the uke absolutely cherishes and explicitly asked for him NOT to do.
All the while, the uke just...takes it?
Like I get a character having no spine or confidence, but at some point, when push come to shove, you need to get a grip? It's beyond the point of being a pushover, its at the point where it MAKES NO SENSE for him to deal with the shit the seme is doing? At all? Because he doesnt have to?
He has all the power, especially since the seme is the one asking HIM for a favour, taking advantage of his livelihood, and he could easily tell him to get out? Leave the premises? Keep that shit up and I am calling the police because you dont live here?
Yet, despite that power, he keeps letting the seme do WHATEVER he wants, keeping his anger and panic internal, and just...dealing with it. All the while the seme has this stupid grin on his face. Like, KICK HIM OUT???
ESPECIALLY IF YOU VIEWED THE PAST (tho the uke is an obvious unreliable narrator because it looks like the seme just had a crush but was obnoxious about it and didnt care for the ukes feelings whatsoever, much like how he is as an adult) AS BULLYING??????
he has no redeeming qualities from the jump - no money, drop out, former bully (in ukes POV), spoiled rich kid whongot kicked out, entitled, arrogant, lazy, messy, homeless, and finally, and most importantly, a rapist.
So why. Why, Oh, why are you not kicking him OUT OF YOUR HOUSE? YOU HAVE THE LEVERAGE TO DO SO? like, i'm so stuck on this that I can't continue reading it because at this point, the uke is just setting himself up for problems.
Perhaps I am nissing something because so many people say this is solid, but I am so confused? Letting him initially stay in his house is fine. Maybe he just felt bad - heart of gold and all that.
but everything that has happened in the first two days would, and SHOULD, for any reasonable person, have you KICKING THAT PERSON OUT OF YOUR HOUSE?
Again, maybe i'm misreading. Maybe motivations will be revealed later on and actually make me realize why the uke is being a goddamn idiot.
but as a set up, this makes no sense to me. And it just seems trope-y with an uke who lets anything and everything happen to him.
Rant over.
I thought the seme was a jerk too at first, but I kept reading and it’s not that bad. The MC probably didn’t kick the ML out because he likes him, you find out later that they were both important to each other in highschool. It’s probably because of lingering feelings that the MC just let the ML stay
Like yeah that happened, but this isn’t reality where obviously no one should condone this. Plus, compared to many other stories, this has a more redeeming plot. TBH sometimes you have to turn off your brain for yaoi plots, especially ones that are smut centered. I feel like this has decent story if you keep reading
Honestly valid, hence why thought that the narrator is completely unreliable.
I honestly just think that the setup was done really bad, and whether the seme was just trying to mess with the uke or not, there are limits. And the way the uke is tolerating all of that for a crush from over ten years ago is beyond unreasonable and his choices just seem dumb. but I figured this is probably one of those, "dont think about it, suspend your beliefs, and it will be fine"
Which typically I do, but the seme destroying the plant was actually the final straw haha i don't think I will continue with it even though the plot may redeem itself mostly because the set up has made me dislike both chars ( one for their stupidity and the other one for being an asshole) but i appreciate your response!
Heegun checking in when he saw sahan was in distress, asking if it was okay to move forward and ensuring that he wont move forward with anything sahan isnt comfortable with was such a nice touch. honestly this was such a breath of fresh air because it makes sense to heegun's character to want to cherish sahan. To want for sahan to want him back. To not be forceful. And while i'm not someone cares what happens in fiction ( i've been reading manga and manwas for over a decade. Ive read all kinds of things lol) it just has to make sense for the character. And this was really well done!
Moreover, you have sahan who experienced a sexual violence and developing flashbacks, only to find relief that heegun we'll stop at any point that sahan asks, and won't hurt him. So much so that he feels safe enough to continue, but also more, so take initiative.
This was really great to read for not only for character development for the two characters but also development of their relationship itself!
Also really random but the word sahan means plate in my language and I keep reading his name as such haha
