Im reading the novel..and though its not a typical incantation curse..he is in someway cursed..he can be in physical pain if he outright disobeys or tries to injure the evil twinevils. I literally gasped when i read it..like waaaaaat..its that serious??..damn and i felt more sympathetic towards varkas..they are both incredibly flawed people but also both victims to their circumstance or environment.
