I skimmed the novel a few months ago and Ilay barely appears in the next one. Or rather, when he does, he doesn't have scenes with Tay. Actually, iirc, I think they had just one or two together? It's going to be a very dry season if they stick close to the novel (which they have so far, so...)

I dont think you need to wait for it to finish tbh. Each chapter has different story that doesnt really connect to each other, so you can enjoy one chapter at a time. Cuz man its soooo good, dont hesitate anymore, Im telling you, youre missing out （/TДT)/

I don't think is gonna finish anytime soon, the mangaka still updates and is active about it on twitter, she is selling a lot too.
The plot is Slice of life so it can go on a lot, telling us about each step of their relationship, maybe she'll continue until they grow old together and it works.
Personally I think is fine, BL's aren't long, this is one of the few works that is past 5 volumes and still going strong and its fine.
If you want to read it is always going to be here, if you prefeer other stories or shorter stories theres a lot of options too :)
You can also read it up after they graduate, along with the sexy doujinshis, the story starts to go "longer" and has a different atmosphere when they are adults/university students. But if you are not interested, their graduation day is a good conclusion for the story too.

No issue with long-running stories at all! I started the Finder series like 20 years ago, also Sakaiichi Hatsukoi, or Koisuru Boukun But since I don't read as much anymore as when I was younger, I do hesitate starting new ones that might only end when I'm 50+ But I'll trust the comment above and will give this another shot now!

The previous uploaders are still translating this. There are actually two groups translating this, but Seira&Sho upload here while Bear Scans only uploads on their Discord. They didn't give any permission for their chapters to be here, but some weirdo uploaded here saying "Bear Scans translated this first before Seira&Sho sniped this" and it's like, no one sniped anything from anyone. Because Bear Scans doesn't even WANT their chapters to be here, so there's no sniping
Unless Bear Scans comes out and repirimands the uploader, we might get stuck with this weirdo who seems to think they're doing Bear Scans a justice
