Q: Can I edit my lists? (Yes? but…)
・Yes, but be careful please and make a back-up off-site. I have seen users have issues
・You may have issues, you may not. But I wouldn’t say everyone is 100% safe
・A common issue is stuff disappearing after you added it, so follow the advice below.
・If you’re recovering your lists, I have suggestions in [OTHER QUESTIONS]
・Devs may still be recovering stuff. If you re-add something it overwrites the original date.

When editing/ adding stuff please:
ㅤ‣ After adding an entry, go to that list to check it is there.
ㅤ‣ If not, refresh after ~10 seconds. If still not there, add it again.
ㅤ‣ Update your off-site backup whenever you change something.
ㅤ‣ If it still gets deleted after you confirmed it was in your lists, DM me.

Q: But I heard we were getting everything back? (OUTDATED)
・After list data was lost, it was confirmed we're not getting EVERYTHING back ANYMORE.
・They managed to recover up to early 2022 before the disk crash last I heard.

Q: Why is everything in ‘Already read’ + Why is deleted stuff back?
・Everything was seemingly being added to 'already read' before list data was lost.
・SPECULATIVE: Unrated but tagged: goes to “Want to read.” If both: goes to “Already Read”
・They are likely recovering stuff to your lists if it has ever been marked as being in there.
・A user had works recovered to their lists that have been deleted off the site.

=~=~+ COMMON ISSUES + SITE RECOVERY + NOTIFICATIONS? +~=~=
Q: I commented OR added something to my list/ custom list/ album why is it not showing up?
・The database + what you're seeing aren't synced due to the site recovery. (Suujin's FAQ)
・You might need to wait ~20 seconds then refresh to see if it's updated.
・If it's not there, try again + refresh again. Sometimes it just won't go through at all.
・Sometimes, the entry just won’t go through. (CAN HAPPEN TO LISTS)

Q: Why am I constantly getting logged out?
・This seems to be a mobile-only issue. Maybe read on PC for no interruptions.
・Something about the login session not being tracked properly. (see Suujin's FAQ)

Q: Are they still recovering my lists? (Maybe)
・As long as the works were rated or tagged. With no announcement, it's safe to assume it's ongoing.
・Even if list recovery is over, the site recovery is still ongoing
・Why I think so: a few users have books added years ago in between recent entries. Likely recovered.
・A user had a 2011 entry in between Mar 6/26 entries. They think it might’ve been recovered.
・If you *know* you tagged/rated stuff and it’s not back yet, you may just need to wait.
・If they aren’t back AFTER they announce everything’s ok, maybe send them an email.

Q: What about my notifications?
・Stuff is not in your lists (notifications only come from 'reading' and 'already read')
・The notification system is just not working properly. (Seems so after Mar 9 issues)
・You aren't subscribed to the title.

・You might not get notifications sometimes, so I suggest:
ㅤ‣ Checking your history and looking for the "have new update after your last reading"
ㅤ‣ Remembering the update schedule of your favourite works/ check them weekly.

Q: What can I do to recover my lost titles (MANUAL)
・Go through your comments/ on-site history/ lists, etc.
・Check your browser history. Most browsers only save up to ~3 months of history.
・Go through lists with tags you're interested in (www.mangago.me/listtag/)
・Ask for some stuff in the questions section! Some people have lists they'd like to share or remember titles you've forgotten.

Q: What about the comments section + my personalised comments?
・There is no information on when/if this is coming back. They might not.

Q: Can I email someone? (TLDR: DO NOT!!!!) + Uploading new manga
・I suggest not. The developers are very busy and haven't been responding since mid Feb.
・It's expected as they're a small team and this is a big site.

Due to this, uploading new manga is seemingly on hold, but here is a guide anyways

I’ve seen people saying… things about me so I made this disclaimer.
This FAQ is created based on user’s experiences + theories from users with backgrounds in IT. I’m trying to make sense of stuff based on what little information we have and hopefully provide answers to confused users. I never said my words were strictly the truth. I always say 'maybe’.
I can't confirm nor deny if lists are safe to edit. I’m not a developer. It’s been a month without major issues, so I’ve changed my opinion. But based on recent user experiences, I still advise people to be careful

Please don’t get mad at me for changing my opinion on editing lists. I’ve been thinking of changing my advice since the end of February, especially as some people have been okay. But as others faced issues, I was torn. I was also scared to change it because I would possibly face backlash, and it went against someone’s advice. I’m sorry. You’re allowed to be upset with me, just don’t attack me please.
This situation has overwhelmed me. I might take a few days off from the site, so if you need to contact me, please DM me.

Someone emailed the devs and apparently got a response saying it was okay to edit lists. This was a while ago. I don’t know how I missed that information. I'm sorry. I still advise you to be careful though, due to the issues I’ve seen.

MARCH 22: Yea, I've been really happy lately now that I'm not dealing with this, so I'm going to completely stop keeping track of the situation. Ts genuinely ruined my mental, even though it wasn't that serious (〜￣△￣)〜

let me give you all one last heads up. Some of you out there are stating to go ahead and mess with the lists because they aren't locking you out anymore. please ignore those people. Here's why. They really don't understand computers, software and websites apparently. If a hardware piece of a computer, in this case the server goes down (aka fries) you have to put new software into it. then have to make it connect to the other parts of the server. then you have to make sure it can link with the website. after that can you start to try and get back the information from the fried server part. ONE PAINFUL FILE AT A TIME!!!
Locking everyone out of their lists also locks the devs out. it doesn't work having to lock you out, work on the page unlock it, check it, go back to locking it, pull the file (in this case a manga) put it up on the list. unlock check to see if its there, lock the thing again and repeat until all the files are pulled.
it's easier to leave things unlocked and pull and just going back and forth to check.
IF the devs REALLY wanted to be jerks, they'd lock the whole site to everyone and hey guess what, none of us would be able to read anything until the glitch was fixed. So be happy you can still read mangas right now AND LEAVE YOUR LISTS ALONE!!

UPDATE: AND THE FIRST RUN IS DONE!!

From here on out Mgo should make several runs to load everyone's data correctly and apply bug fixes, so dont worry if your list is still missing some. A full second pass could push it to Feb 4–5, but a partial cleanup run would likely finish around Feb 2–3.

Most of the current issues should fix themselves after the full restoration process is done. Its best to give it at least 2 weeks from now. If after everything finishes and youre still seeing clear errors in your marked mangas, report them to [email protected]

If possible, keep a small log of your observations and what you did, such as:
⠀⠀⠀*whether you re-added, edited, or deleted mangas during restoration
⠀⠀⠀*any repeated issues (random logouts, missing notifs, errors, etc.)
⠀⠀⠀*the other specific errors you noticed
Simply put, keep a log of WHAT YOU DID/OBSERVED and WHEN (use GMT or if in your local time, specify your timezone). The more specific your report is, the easier it is for the devs to trace what went wrong. It helps them replicate your actions so they can actually find and fix the problem

Here's an example log:
2026-01-26 9PM: I noticed my list went missing
2026-01-28 2AM: my list is restoring up to 67
2026-01-28 9PM: I added 10 mangas to my Already Read
2026-01-30 6PM: my restored mangas is stuck at 67
2026-01-31 10AM: my list count is increasing again it restored up to 83
2026-01-31 7PM: I added 3 mangas to my Want to Read

Let me start by saying that everything Im sharing comes from spending many years on this site, observing patterns across multiple accounts, and reading user reports. Im not the dev, mod, or admin but Ive had experience with systems which is why I can answer your “whys” and “what ifs”


THIS IS THE SITUATION
Jan19 - Bto closes
⠀⠀⠀*start of traffic surge to Mgo
⠀⠀⠀*some features have slowed down a bit
Jan24 - Mgo goes down
⠀⠀⠀*caused by backend updates or overloaded servers
Jan26 - Mgo comes back up
⠀⠀⠀*site is online again but very buggy: missing lists, random logouts, slow pages, no notifications, etc
⠀⠀⠀*this is when the system started gradually restoring lists

WHY IS THE SITE SO BUGGY
- Mgo uses separate parts for different things. One to SAVE your manga data (aka database/the memory), another one to DISPLAY your saved Manga data (aka UI/what you see), and another one for your browser/session data (aka cookies, login state, etc/this also connects the database and ui). When everything is working properly, these three systems stay in sync (eg. when you save a manga, it will show up in your list right away)

The system will communicate with Database, like hey this is the user that logged in go tell UI the things they should display. So Database will tell UI, like hey based on what's given to me, these are the saved data that belongs to this user, these are what you should display. HOWEVER, because of the gradual restoring of lists (which puts a heavy load on the site), the System, UI, and Database are not able to communicate properly, so theyre not in sync. This is why we’re encountering the issues

I DON'T GET NOTIFICATIONS
- since the System, UI, and Database are not in sync, Mgo cant correctly link your acc to your saved mangas so notifs dont show up/update properly. This is temporary and should be fixed when the system is in sync again

WHY DO I KEEP GETTING LOGGED OUT
- Mgo keeps track of your login/session info. But if this isnt tracked properly, Mgo may log you out randomly/repeatedly

WHERE DID MY LIST GO
- Your mangas are not deleted. Theyre still saved in the database. Mgo is gradually restoring everyone’s list from the oldest to most recent marked mangas. Follow this post to get notified about updates: https://www.mangago.me/home/mangatopic/21092806/

WILL I GET MY LIST BACK
- YES. Do note that while your list is coming back, you might notice some things are off:
⠀⠀⠀*all mangas going into Already Read even if theyre originally marked as Want to read or Reading
⠀⠀⠀*deleted mangas showing up again
⠀⠀⠀*missing notes/summaries
⠀⠀⠀*only rated mangas showing for some users
(I can explain why but it will be too long for this FAQ. idk how to explain without sounding too technical so i might also have to explain the basic terms. You can ask in the comments if youre curious)

I ADDED NEW MANGAS TO MY EMPTY LIST, WILL IT OVERWRITE THE OLD ONE
- if you ADD NEW mangas while the site is restoring, your new list will stay. And your original list will be added back on top of it once its fully restored. But if you RE-ADD EXISTING mangas, it will update the original date of when the manga was added, tags, and summaries/little notes you originally had for it. its usually best to wait and let the restoration finish before making lots of changes

WHY DO OTHERS HAVE THEIR MANGAS BACK ALREADY, WHILE MINE IS STILL MISSING
- think of this like we're reading through a giant BOOK of everyone’s manga list, arranged by the exact time each manga was added (aka timestamps). Each timestamp is like a page in the book, and we read them from the oldest timestamps to the newest. Right now, we are reading timestamps from Feb 2022 (as of writing this post), so any timestamp dated later than Feb 2022 wont appear YET

If your lists are still completely EMPTY, there are 2 possible reasons:
One is that its about “activity”, not account age. So even if you joined in 2016, but you didnt add any manga until 2023, your list wont appear until the system reaches the timestamps for 2023. The second reason is, since the system is very busy right now, it sometimes hits a blurry page and has to skip to keep moving. This doesnt mean your data is gone. It just means the system needs to go back for a second run once the "main reading" is done

HOW SOON WILL THEY COMEBACK / WHEN IS THE RESTORATION EXPECTED TO FINISH
- how soon your lists fully comes back depends on how far along we are in the “book” and how many timestamps we still need to read. If yours already started to appear again then thats a good sign. it means your account is already in the queue and the rest should continue to come back (gradually, not all at once)

If theres another run, expect anywhere from a few extra hours to about one extra day. A full second pass could push it to Feb 4–5, but a partial cleanup run would likely finish around Feb 2–3.

- PLEASE WAIT. Do not email the devs yet. The system needs to make several runs to load everyone's data correctly. Most of the current issues should fix themselves after the full restoration process is done. Give it at least 2 weeks from now.

Can anyone use the add tag (the space beside (Optional) in every dropbox for comments) in mangago? Everytime I press enter after I type a tag it doesn't generate the tag I created. It just skips to the Comment: box directly. I thought it would be fixed when the Ask a Question was fixed. Wondering if I'm the problem or is it a bug? It's driving me cray-cray. ╥﹏╥

Hi I'm searching for this gender bender shoujo where the female mc, is poor and her father has a ton of debts and almost sold her to prostitution. She resembles this rich boy, and is one day asked to take his place in school/home because he goes missing. She has an attendant (?) who she falls in love with but he's an asshole to her from the start and starts to be nice to her nearing the end of the manga

It was about these two girls... who were kinda like assassins. One of the girls was, i believe, a mob boss. It was a really gory manga, the girls would cut their victims in half, and guts would fly everywhere! I can't seem to find it though. I also remember that one of the girls had her bones replaced with steel? or some other material. Can't remember precisely, but she was an experiment, killed her creator, and was hella strong.
