it's cool the way it is now. i don't think old xian plans on making it a yaoi any sooner or later so i think it's for the better.
Old Xian most likely won't but not because they don't want too. Yaoi is banned there in most forms and authors who post it have faced legal issues including arrest. They give us as much of a sexy relationship vibe as they can without pushing it too far for the censorship there. In 2018 an author was given a really long jail term for posting "homoerotic" work.
