How did Eunoh transition from being an empath with a saviour's complex to becoming a playboy who struggles to keep his hands to himself? Did anyone else notice??? WHAT HAPPENED.
An interesting pair, the only thing that doesn't work for me is that their personalities are so incompatible unless they go through character development. Like, neither of them can keep the other grounded or anything??
And does anyone else feel bad for Isak a little? Like of course he did shit and can be incompetent, but when no one is there to uplift you and guide you in the right direction it's a tough place to get out of ToT
lol I don’t think he was ever an empath- we think he is in the beginning but in reality he falls in love with whoever is in front of him and likes the shy types. So true that I have no idea how the development will be with Isak but I think it’ll be interesting seeing as they had the least amount of chemistry before now.
I envy this couple so much, they're so cute!!!! Though srsly that bonus chapter melted my heart. I'm glad their first time he took care of his partner thoroughly to make sure he doesn't get hurt. THEY MADE SURE TO RESEARCH!!!
Cause speaking from experience, there was no preparation whatso ever and it just hurted. Thought he knew what he was doing but just rushed in and never felt the intimacy. Make sure to research and take it slow yall!!!
Just read the raws and jesus I don't know how our mc here is gonna get out of this alive. These people super fucked.
Spoilers ahead
Don't be fooled by white hair seme, he's getting more unhinged and sex obsessed. From what I roughly understood, he kidnapped someone and 'accidentally' killed them hence his prison time. He even made mc give him a blowy in the courtyard in public too later in the chapters. He even fucked him in the bath as well.
Other seme forced pierced another prisoner's nipples and tattoes with needles and nails. There was also the mention of AIDS somewhere but I wasn't able to understand that part. He made someone eat their vomit out of the toilet, cutted someone to the bone with a box cutter and so forth.
I am praying that mc can walk out of this alive and heal or get therapy, but even then idk if that will help-
Came in, knew it was gonna kill me but I didn't expect to be reanimated and killed all over again.
Ngl the extra chapter didn't even make me feel better because my tears were blurring whatever the hell was on the screen. Despite so this was probably a better ending compared to other possibilities. Though it still killed me that he couldn't cope with grief and it killed him too in the end.
From the very beginning, this story keeps reminding me of this wonderful piece.
The Ballad of Smokin' Joe Rudeboy - Tom Cardy

To be honest, the seme's mindset and flashbacks actually makes sense to me. I think most people just don't like the portrayal of a character who deals with shady business in a more realistic sense, because unfortunately it's mainly romanticised or just as it is, fiction, in manga and webtoons.
Seme reminds me truly of someone I know who grew up with the wrong crowd and did bad shit whilst also having a similar personality. Pessimistic and that everyone has a bad bone and were often jealous of sheltered people because they have it better (which is not always the case). The underworld really exposes you to things and makes you think less of humanity. Some of these people just do things to survive or find purpose and rather not associate with others on the other end. Because with 'sheltered people', they don't have to concern themselves with law enforcement, drugs, gangs, violence and such as these people do. The circumstances that lead people like seme to these situation just can't be chosen sometimes, especially when you're young, desperate and impressonable.
I don't really mind how he thought of the uke beforehand, because they're strangers and you literally don't think of everyone positively from the get go. I wouldn't like it if a stranger suddenly got deep with me when I'm not in the mood. Or having to hear how much better people have it sometimes either when I'm in a shitty place. Also he slept with the girl without knowing she was dating, so that's not on him.
The woman is a whole another case. She certainly has problems and issues and I definitely don't condone her actions. It's sad to say though that there are genuinely people out there who don't understand what they did wrong and act just like her. Even then I know any backstory wont cut it for her, she's just unlikable. HOWEVER. She doesn't deserve to die, she needs help. Someone dying as an act of revenge for hurting others doesn't do anything. Plus it's sentarou choice to move on and not be hurt by it. One's apology or atonement doesn't start the healing journey. He needs to start it himself.
Anyways, it's called DYSFUNCTIONAL FAMILY THERAPY FOR A REASON. Sentarou too, has his own problems. And so does the kid. That doesn't mean you can just negate the seme's own issues and say to leave him in the gutters. Is he an asshole sometimes? Yeah, but he's not awful. It's hard sometimes cause even though you may know someone associated with badthings, you know they're also capable of good too.
From my perspective, it seems to me more so he's not actively engaging in the kid's life because he knows he's not cut out for it. He wants her to choose the other in the end. A person like him being in gangs and subjected to danger is not well suited for a kid. He only grew up learning to take care of himself, and he knows well that the kid deserves a better life with Sentarou. It's like, cutting the rope before it frays. Letting go of things before they become more difficult.
Anyways, everyone needs help. I think this story will honestly be of that kind. Family therapy, where everyone learns to rely on each other and help better themselves. It's not just sentarou and the kid, it's everyone.
Came back here to report my findings cause some aspects of this story got me curious! Read on if you're interested lmao.
- It wasn't common to be gay in the wild west, but it was common to engage in homosexual activities! Less women and more men, they didn't consider it to be deep intimacy between two guys but rather sex was just sex and pleasure was pleasure. They kinda did what they did and make do with what they had.
- A bandana or handkerchief can actually mean something! Quotes from wiki 'Wearing a handkerchief on the left side of the body typically indicates one is a "top" while wearing it on the right side of the body would indicate one is a "bottom"'. It's not necessarily true per say because certain communities could have different indications. But apparently back then when men in the west were dancing, there weren't women partners and so the men who played the women roles had a bandana worn. APPARENTLY.
At first I wondered how it felt so natural for these two men to be so intimate with each other cause you would think they'd be repulsed considering this was back then, when homophobia was a thing. But I guess this goes way far back, and especially in rural areas it was a more common thing. Not publicly talked about and feelings weren't discussed, just sex for funs lmao.
AND I KNOW THIS IS FICTION, but still, I literally have no life but than to holler at these two donkeys. lel

Returning to this story because it was just so beautiful.
Whilst the name Gene perfectly fits the male lead for meaning 'well-born,' I only just realised another reason why the name was such a subtle great choice overall.
Gene is also a unit of heredity that can help determine people's relations through DNA. Yet we have three 'Genes' that are not necessarily directly related in blood or closely bonded, but are connected in one way or another. It just really ties in the theme of family and relationships.
