Like there definitely is a limit to how long you can drag it out cuz people get impatient but Old Xian has (for me personally) been pacing out the story in the most perfect way possible
Not completely holding back the romace blossoming cuz that gets boring
But not suddenly shoving them into a some what unrealistic, glorified, and often underdeveloped relationship like most BL does and that becomes almost equally weird and boring.
Just slowly playing it out like an almost normal pair of childhood friends beginning to develop a further relationship, and even catch feelings for each other.
