if you've ever read this authors works before, you'd know it's never going to have a simple answer. it's psychological, so unraveling kei's gender identity is the plot of the story. my interpretation is that he's non binary, not a trans woman. but i think it can be interpreted in all sorts of ways, his gender is supposed to be confusing, don't worry about not getting it when the story has just started

There's nothing wrong with the age gap. Men often marry younger women too, so why should it be an issue with the reverse? Especially in islam, where even the prophet married an older woman.
