BANJO's question ( All 1 )

My favs:

Title: Animal World
Country: China
Type: Movie
Genre: Action, Fantasy
Synopsis: Backed into a corner by mounting debts, Zheng Kaisi agrees to submit himself to a high stakes game of chance in international waters aboard a disused warship.

The core structure plot to this movie is so basic and simple but everything about it is great. The CGI, the set, props, acting, cast, the style, it is so drak and gritty for a simple plot. It was so good, I was intrigued the whole way through and I've been dying for another movie like this. This is a rare case of a Chinese adaption of Japanese manga, it is the second time the manga has been adapted. Kaiji: The Ultimate Gambler and the sequel Kaiji 2: The Ultimate Gambler are the first.

Title: Our Times
Country: Taiwan
Type: Movie
Genre: Romance
Synopsis: Office worker Truly Lin goes on a journey through her memories. Flashing back 20 years to her time in high school, she reminisces about teaming up with a friend to take down their rivals.

I looooove this movie. I watched it when I was in the need for some hetero romance and I was not disappointed. The cliche bad boy with a soft heart, the lead's personality. It has like this soft, reminiscent like filter that made my gay heart ache. And Darren Wang is a total heart throb. The end felt a little lackluster but that doesn't stop the movie from great.
(Its getting a sequel! But it wont have the OG leads, we'll see how it goes)

Title: Addicted (Heroin)
Country: China
Type: Web Series
Genre: LGBT, Romance
Synopsis: Two step-brothers, Bai Luo Yin and Gu Hai, with wildly conflicting emotional backgrounds are placed in the same class at a Beijing high school, without knowing each other's background at first. With time, they slowly developed a special feeling toward one another.

This is my favourite LGBT show. It got got banned (for obvious reason) but it was so good. The acting had good chemistry on and off screen so everything felt natural. The dialouge, the classic awkward teenage feelings and interactions. Two boys trying to figure their feelings in a unfortunate situation. Classic BL. It is based on the BL novel 'Are You Addicted', I read a translation of it once and even the novel was good, the finer details that, as per usual, don't make it to the screen, really helped to understand the characters.
No gay movie or tv show has topped this one, for me.

Title: Strangers from Hell (Hell is Other People)
Type: TV Show
Country: South Korea
Genre: Psychological Thriller
Synopsis: Yoon Jong-Woo, a writer who moves in room 303 at Eden Dormitory, whose residents are particularly....odd.

Holy Shyte. This was so good. If I didn't already have a massive crush on Lee Dong-Wook, I do now, his acting *chef kiss*. I feel like SK has too many romance dramas, so this felt refreshing (especially for Lee Dong-Wook who is always a romantic lead). The acting by all the cast was so good, you really feel the unease that Yoon Jung-Woo feels from his neighbours. It is based off the popular webtoon by the same name, there is no official English translation, only a couple fan chapters so I hope from the show, that they'll start. I've been told that the comic is really weird and I can't wait to get my hands on it.
The show is way too short, it could've been longer, especially to flesh out the characters but them being a mystery adds to the tension. The final epsiode does not disappoint.

Title: Dangul
Type: Movie
Country: India
Genre: Sports, True Story
Synopsis: After his failure at winning a gold medal for the country, Mahavir Phogat vows to realize his dreams by training his daughters for the Commonwealth Games despite societal pressures.

This movie, if it doesn't come under Feminism, it should. Two girls going against societal norms and becoming wrestlers, HECK YEAH! It is loosely based on the the true story of the Phogat's and does take some liberties (don't all movies though) but this was very inspiring. The real life Phogat girls are just as bad ass as their cinematic counterparts. The soundtrack, I downloaded it, too good not to. The cast was great and big kudos to those young kids. If you want to see strong women, physically and mentally, check this out.

These are my favs and recommendations, what are yours?
