This story doesn't deserve just one star under any circumstances.
People criticize ML, but they forget that he is human. Yes, human.
ML experiences a rational and emotional conflict, the woman he loves is also the woman who represents all the hatred, injustice and sadness in his life.
See, at the same time that living with FL provides happiness, a light in all the darkness that surrounds ML, her existence is the reason for this darkness (nobility woman/‘daughter of his ‘owner’)
Therefore, ML's attitude is TOTALLY understandable.
Thus, ML's attitude is TOTALLY comprehensive.
I mean, understanding, because, as the only 'ray of light' in ML's life, he finds himself unable to leave her, but the hatred, suffering and TRAUMA he suffered does not allow him to be able to love her.
Although understandable, I don't want the classic happy ending, as I believe that due to ML's previous life experience and, OF COURSE, the fact that he killed FL's family, as well as not having been psychologically able to 'forgive her' and , consequently, having tortured FL in the marriage, after the revolution, the ending I wanted was for each one to assume a role in this new scenario SEPARATELY.
And I say this because ML is the symbol of the revolution, so his marriage after the fall of the dynasty is simply illogical, impossible, wrong.
Having said that, in my opinion, FL did not deserve the suffering that ML caused her after the revolution, because, despite her previous ignorance, which may or may not be forgivable, since being an extremely privileged woman in an society archaic, aristocratic and sexist (she believed that a son would save his marriage) her ignorance is understandable, but, I do not deny the fact that she could have overcome this ignorance equally because of being a privileged person, the fact is that she recognized that her ignorance contributed to the suffering of the commoners and repented.
Therefore, I wish that in its reflection ML had not only recognized the consequences of its ignorance and that it was sorry for that, but also adopted a more active role in society, but, unfortunately, I do not believe that this stance is consistent with ML , since one of the reasons for his ignorance was his lack of interest in politics (which is not wrong, no one is forced to like politics). So, considering ML's personality, I wanted her to go away to franche and do charity.
Maybe some people find my ending to FL inappropriate, but I don't think it's fair that children pay for their parents mistakes, and I also think it's understandable that a person at the top of the social pyramid doesn't know the 'evils' of the world and, I emphasize that despite all the privilege that FL had, she never used it to oppress anyone and, finally, she married someone of humble origins (ML was not born noble, he was a subordinate of her father, which also demonstrates that the Her father had a lot of control over FL's life and, consequently, her view of the world).
In short, I think this story is very good, because, in my opinion, the characters are complex, and we are also able to sensitize with them.
Her existence is the reason for suffering, hatred and trauma, as she is not only noble, but royalty.
See, the ML was a sub-human due to the political regime of history, if it were not a monarchy, the father of the FL would not be able to do what he did in a legitimate, legal way with the commoners, including the ML here. (‘The only daughter of the military leader who oppressed the army and the citizens’)
This fact is confirmed at the moment that the nobility that escaped wanted to rescue the FL to put an end to the revolution and return the old regime, as well as the FL itself stating that it was a method of the ML asserting its noble position and getting closer to her father and of the nobility.
So I repeat, the existence of the FL is the representation of all the suffering of the ML, at the same time that its existence is the representation of the nobility and its privileges.
However, as the ML's only source of happiness is the FL, a conflict occurs since it represents both good memories and good feelings (love) and bad memories(oppression, injustice, mistreatment, torture, abandonment, among other feelings typical of an aristocratic society).
Now, is ML's stance towards FL desirable, ideal, correct? NO, but it is an understandable stance.
I feel sorry for FL, because she is the typical privileged person who lives in an ivory tower away from all reality, protected and controlled by her father, so that his death puts her in a miserable situation.
She becomes a pawn in a political game, in which she has no idea... the revolutionaries want to crucify her, while the nobles want to use her as a justification for a counterattack, but she herself just wants a happy and loving marriage, as well as a peaceful life (nothing wrong with this desire, which however simple, is worthy of any human being), however, her husband is not capable of loving her, despite having loving feelings for her, what starts all the psychological torture…
i’ve read the novel, so you don’t need to explain the plot. you aren’t even arguing the same point anymore. you said her existence is the reason but then switched to representation. those are two different points. representation of his hardships, yes, absolutely, i would agree. which goes back to my original reply. reasoning for his hardship? NO. she was not the one torturing him or treating him like a dog. it’s a misdirected attempt to vent. maybe indirectly, but her sheer existence is not the reason.
"Her existence is the reason for ml darkness" Your making it sound like people can choose whose pussi to be born out of .Fl is not a God who can just choose which person to be born out of . And second ignorance is not a SIN. You justifing Ml action being fl being ignorant is dumb
Would you have the same opinion if you are labelled as a criminal just becus ur parents were a criminal? ┑( ̄Д ̄)┍
Your past doesn't excuse your action.
THE COMMENT CONTAINS SPOILET
First of all, a question: was Colin in love with Rafael from the beginning? Because, in the end, when reporting the moment he fell in love, the author refers to a scene that he said belonged previously to Rafael, that is, the smile would be Rafael's and not Gabriel's ( http://www.mangago.me/read-manga/one_step_from_the_end/nmt/iur_chapter-73/pg-6/), in fact, in my opinion, Rafael's expression is one of shock and not of surprise or any other feeling, as if he had discovered at that moment that Collin was in love with him from the beginning ... so, in the end, despite my criticisms to follow, I think the author ended the story with the couple he wanted and that's it.
Regarding the second story, I think it's important to consider that Gabriel's dual personality stems from the stress caused by his personal relationships with his parents and Colin.
So, although I particularly preferred Rafael’s personality, I didn’t like the ending, because, as I said above, Gabriel’s double personality was also caused by the fact that Colin always takes his family frustrations out of their relationship, possibly Collin didn’t know his participation in this disorder, after all, he was also a problematic child (he had no family structure - his father is an idiot, totally inhuman).
However, throughout history, he discovered that it was one of the causes of Gabriel's double personality, but instead of helping with treatment, he preferred to continue his revenge (I think here the "devil's" wish would have been fulfilled, after all, unlike the first story, this one had a concrete "victim"; in fact, the initial desire to erase Gabriel's memories would have been better, because then Colin, who was the holder of the "diabolical book", would be the most affected, after all he would not be happy to be forgotten by Gabriel/Rafael, this fact is confirmed by the false aminesia, that is, instead of Colin continuing his life and forgetting all the abuses suffered, he also decided to have an aminesia and give a second chance to the romance between them, and at the same time, this ending would end with all lies and manipulation).
Thus, I think that the author treated the double personality superficially, that is, in my opinion, not showing the real consequences of the double personality in the lives of the characters, but merely citing them superficially, it opened margins for interpretations favorable or not to some characters (was it intentional?), besides leaving some holes and, finally, to finish the story, he chose to sacrifice one of the personalities to the "devil", in order to quickly finish a complex aspect of the story, but, unsatisfactory (again, in the my opinion), since Gabriel had a tragic and undeserved end, considering all the suffering he also went through.
In other words, in my opinion, the author could have ended up with one of the personalities, but through clinical treatment, so that Gabriel/Rafael could solve his problems, just as Colin could participate in this process and have his problems solved too, and that would put an end to all manipulation and lying in the relationship between Colin and Rafael/Gabriel.

I have a special affection for this story, since it was one of the first novels I read
