I haven't read the novel, so I dont know exactly what goes down but if what you said previously is true. Then rape is rape, you dont rape someone out of self defense. You cannot excuse rape. Um I think I mentioned that Grayson locked the mansion and it wasn’t even just locked it was an underground mansion and they had plentiful food storage for more than 1 year or so and graysons demand for letting Dane out was only if Dane slept with him he will let Dane out
Well if Grayson is calling it rape, then he clearly didn't want to have sex with Dane at that time. Sure Grayson was holding him hostage but that doesnt excuse raping someone. 2 things can he true at once, such as, Grayson is a kidnapper and Dane is a rapist. One bad thing does not excuse another.

I think they forgot the part where Dane went into heat? He’ll do things beyond his control because of the urge and let’s be honest, Grayson set that up to happen and he manipulated Dane, even gaslighted him.
