i think his father died on that island or at some point his body got claim by the monarch after the ANT Event. so more like slowly dieing with memories in tackt /without control over his body?? idk just something that came to mind.
I don't think he's connected with the monarchs since it did show when SJW already defeated the ant king that his father is like against the monarchs Since he looks like he wants to kill them. I think that he has a connection with the rulers or something- cuz he definitely know that they're the monarchs and oppose a great threat to humans.
