The side story should've just been the main couple getting pregnant, raising their kid and being a happy family. Even their parents are more interesting than the side couple, I couldn't care less about the doctor and brother in the main story, the side story is so unnecessary and uncomfortable. I'm not even a against taboos and forbidden love troupes especially if it's interesting and done right but this was just not it.

Tbh I don't really see either ML or MC being fully in the wrong here. The ML doesn't want to just say outright that the MC has his name cause he wants to see if they would unconditionally love each other not just because they both have their names in each other's bodies. He has been a skeptic all his life about the namer thing and doesn't really believe in fate which is why he never tried to find his partner. If he had told MC that he has his name he wouldn't know if MC actually loves him or he is forced to love him because that's how namers are supposed to be. So he tried pursuing him in hopes that its more unconditional rather than placebo which in his POV didn't work since MC tried to find his fated partner and he thinks MC doesn't want to be with him. So he was hurt and put up a boundary, he doesn't want to try pursuing anymore since he felt it was more one sided and MC doesn't like him. I don't really see it as him being smug, I see it more as him putting up a front so that he doesn't get hurt without realizing he's hurting MC by doing so. Honestly, he should've just had a sincere talk with MC about everything but there wouldn't be any drama if he did lmao
I also think from MC's POV I understand why he tried to find his real partner because he's scared of falling too deep for ML then being left in the dust once his fated partner shows up, I also think MC is kind of testing ML by doing this in a way, to see if ML would go with fate rather than with him or if ML was being genuine with him. He did say that he wants to put a distance between them which makes me think that he is scared that the relationship may not work out but in the process of doing so he also created a barrier between them.
Idk, I think the situation is more complex and not really black and white in my opinion, no one is fully in the wrong but they both hurt each other in a way. They just need to sort each other's feelings and talk tbh
