This is a really refreshing read for a BL manhwa with a "red flag ML" trope because it embraces the conventions of the trope while avoiding the toxic aspects. Jay is your classic powerful, intimidating, cold and aloof red flag ML, who is both feared and admired by all. He constantly has the upper hand over the MC and seems like he always has everything under control. In typical red flag ML fashion, Jay is extremely possessive and controlling of Yoohan, and threatens him on multiple occasions. However, Jay subverts expectations by never sexually assaulting or otherwise harming Yoohan, a feat which is not shared by most red flag MLs. Jay is all bark and no bite, and the entire time it's clear that he truly has Yoohan's best interests at heart. Jay may be selfish and possessive, but when Yoohan says no, Jay listens. He can be childish and immature, but it comes off as endearing and humorous instead of toxic and manipulative. Jay can compromise and negotiate, and he is receptive to Yoohan's push-back. Jay is a likable character, and as a reader, you can't help but root for him. It might be a low bar, but for a story with the red flag ML trope, Jay is a very refreshing character.

I think a really satisfying sign of growth would be seeing Skylar comfortable with his sexuality around his friends. I wish he had been able to come out to his friends and be open with them about his relationship with Cirrus, esp bc I'm sure his friends would be accepting. The acceptance would help him heal from his trauma from middle school, and he and Cirrus would be able to be their authentic selves around their friends. I can imagine this happening post-canon, but I wish I could read it!!
