i reccomend life in smokey blue.. its 8 volumes in japan, but here its only 5. even so, i think it's worth to read... its about two 40 year old ex coworkers that meet each other again after 8 years. there is a lot of smut tho (its censored) but the good thing about it is that its very "poetic", by that i mean that we can see the characters' thoughts during it about their feelings... the plot is definitely a slice of their lives, but it doesn't make it boring because you (should) get attached to the characters and get invested in their situation and relationship.. even the side characters are interesting and not one-dimensional.. for example, some random coworker of one of the mcs says that he has a wife but doesn't wear a ring, and the mc actually notices that!, so its very interesting and refreshing seeing the main characters be insightful!!!! plus its very realistic, WAY TOO REALISTIC.. it makes me miserable...
i also like the artstyle but it might not be for everyone.
only bad thing is that we dont get to see the ml's POV very often, and when we finally do, in volume 6, it isnt translated to english...

Media literacy and self awareness from both authors and their audience is lacking, with that and the influence of comics portraying toxicity previously doing well or being perceived as sensual, authors tend to write or draw more extreme, emotionally low-bar works, being fed into a cycle of toxicity. This applies outside of comics, which still impact comics inadvertently. It's also really easy for anyone to make and post anything, but i dont think thats why, bc its always been that easy.

And im unsure of whether theyre getting more and more toxic, or if individual genres are just getting more extreme with their tropes and direct influence
