It's Perennial Species on Novel Updates if anyone's interested! Apparently it's an award winning novel? Anywho, it's a great novel, the translator is also pretty good, so look it up on NovelUpdates if the preview interested you.
...Actually, having seen the preview, it's surprisingly tame and "clean" compared to what goes on in the novel. It's very action-adventure/comedy. I always imagined it having a more flamboyant art style like the cover.
Was Ray lying about leaving? I mean, Ray kept Ban around for ages--even though Ban knows that Ray doesn't like him, Ray basically funds the guy and keeps him around still. There's gotta be a reason why. Probably the W thingy. So is Ray testing Ban's loyalty with the leaving thing? The fact that he appeared here to retrieve Ban and that it's the finale already says a lot.
