In my country Vietnam right now there is a surge on anti pedophile because of many child raping cases being brought to the light. Somehow this update is at perfect timing. I just wanna say that child rape and pedophile are 2 different things, and lumping them together and cheating pedophiles like trash is inhumane. The same thing was for queer people.
I love every bits in this work, it brings out every facets in a pedophile case. From the crime of raping child to the crime of "curing" pedophile, of neglecting in parenting, of prejudice and shitty things. Not only did it brings those out, it also goes very deep, thorough and alarming about each facets. For example, at first, Yui's parents according to child Yui's talk are always busy at work and never really care about him so we kinda have an impression that they must have been the cold hearted kinda parents usually seen in mangas. But afterward, they seem like normal people with ordinary behaviors, and sometime are even depicted in a humorous way. That, is us. We are busy taking care of our business, our own life that we in-deliberately forget about our little angels that need to be educated and cared about. We overlook and make small out of every things. Only when the shit happens do we panic and fuck everything up.

when I watching 'SPOTLIGHT' the Pastor insist he didnt rape the child, bcause he is been raped and what he did to all his victim is different, it was an affection, an act of love by using God names to justify their action. Both molesting and raping still damaged a child inside, a scar received in childhood last forever, either bullying, or abusing, or raping, the survivor of those thing mostly use drugs or suicidal, or became the perpetrator himself, there is a few who had good life, good carrier, having wife and kids but still carrying a nightmare deep down in their heart. Human isnt like a car, when its broken you only need to mend it and it became brand new, it needs a constant fixing just like a drug addict, you cant just put them into some rehab and expect them to break free from the drugs completely, it takes a lot of times and great efforts.

I do agree with you though, if it takes one village to raised one child than it also take one village to abuse one. in most asian country especially the conservative one, people tend to cover up such thing as rape or abuse for family honor or the child future etc, its been going on for ages, but people only bring it out to light recently

So, pedophiles, too, only about 2% of them are criminals who act out on that. The rest struggles with the feeling of disgust towards themselves because of peer pressure.
Child raping and child molestation are crimes. Being a pedophile is NOT a crime. At the moment, we are actually struggling to define it. DSM 5 defines it as a disorder. While ICD-10 defines it as a sexual preference. In some cultures and in some point in history, pedophiles is a normal behavior, sometime it is perversion. Pedophiles has been the topic of debate since forever but we still haven't really understand it wholly. The DSM used to classify homosexual as a disorder, and guess what happen now.
But you see, disorder or sexual preference, pedophiles is not a crime. RAPE and MOLEST are crimes. Either towards a child or an adult.
My point is, if only they commits an act that harm another being, will they be punish. We cannot just sacrifice the whole group of people for the sake of others, we just don’t have the rights, we are no god for mother nature. We have to accept them as who they are, understand the core of the case, and help them live meaningfully. This case applies for HIV victims and many other stuff.
