Behind The desk
THIS IS THE KIND OF MANHWA I HAVE BEEN SEARCHING FOR ALL MY LIFE. I LOVE THIS MANHWA SO MUCH. The art is beautiful, the story is paced well, and the relationship between Taesung and Sunny (both when they're still getting to know each other and when they're together) is adorable. It's also refreshing to see such a healthy relationship between the two leads. Obviously, it took some time to get there, but I really appreciate how Taesung and Sunny respected each other from the start, and learned to trust one another along the way. They also have sooooo many cute moments. I also appreciated how the creator addressed the issue of emotional abuse by Sunny's ex, while still acknowledging his humanity and complexity.
Overall, I was really impressed with this and will be supporting it as much as I can here and elsewhere! Thank you to the creators!
December Rain
This manhwa was absolutely captivating; its tone, plot, and art are heavy and haunting. Even now, I'm still reeling from it. There are many things I admire about this manhwa, but I was especially impressed with the beautiful relationship that developed between the leads, and the very nuanced examinations of guilt and truth. For example, you never really know if Gusam is truly guilty, and there are subtle hints that he's innocent, but at the end of the day it didn't really matter because the officers, media, and the local townspeople already decided he was guilty. For Soochae, he was automatically branded an accomplice. For me, the ending was painful, really painful, but it also felt inevitable, because there were no options given to the leads. The world failed them over and over again, and they knew that. The fact that they just wanted to be at peace together makes it all the more tragic. In another life, I hope they find each other again.
I cried a lot reading this. No webtoon is perfect, but I think this one's definitely worth reading.
My Last Love Scenario
I was sooooo happy to find out Hush had a more adult-themed sequel. This is such a cute manhwa! I think both leads are very likable, and I love how you get to see their relationship progress in small slice-of-life moments.
