First of all, I do believe it was unintentional on his part, he went berserk.
Secondly, I don’t know if you remember but prior to that he overheard his PARENTS plotting his MURDER, and Howoo’s parents were to “look after” him while he’s dying without guiding. He probably thought they were in on the scheme and was frightened shitless and mad af. And even if he didn’t, he might have started seeing all the adults, especially parents, as threats to himself and maybe even potentially Howoo.
I do think that his obsession with Howoo played a part in the tragedy but blaming everything on a little kid, who was going crazy without guiding aka treatment and felt like every adult around him was actively working towards or even just idly waiting for his death, seems a bit too much to me.
Plus he might have been triggered by any child/parent display of affection with his background, it’s not even necessary about Howoo.
