So the whole flashback are from the ML's POV which shows us how things really happened and on the way, his backstory.

The S1 had the MC as the narrator but the S2 was used to show and make us understand how that the whole memories from S1 was messed up and reorganized in MC's mind to suit reality better to himself (unreliable narrator) and explain the ML's backstory (loved it).

And at some point there'll be the jump in the present where ML marked the two of them and at this moment, MC's mind suddenly remember and realized how his brain changed most events to be more pleasant to himself.


Ex {If I understood well}:

• The severaly bullied one was the MC and not the ML.

And to add, the main reason MC's mind even switched up realities and events was because of ML's sentence who was something like:
" You can blame me all you want, if that's what it takes for you to love me."
