Please do not introduce a harem/moeblob/forced relation here...

So I mainly dislike harems for 2 reasons.

1.
Firstly, it introduces the useless moeblob: the girl who's here only to be conquered by the male lead, has no personality, is useless, and serve as a plot-point/an object to convey the mc's emotions/development.

Let's hope there'll be no such characters here and we get some truly 'strong' female characters. I wouldn't mind if the girl was girly but I do want her to be skilled in something of her own(not just an inferior version of the guy pls) and have her opinion and life be her own, not that of the guy she's crushing on.

To me a strong female character doesn't have to have masculine qualities: she doesn't have to be boyish, just have character and opinions, unique insights and development and some kind of strength that's truly an asset to the group. Perhaps she could be a master in fighting, a skilled technician, a strong magician or esper, a hacker or code-breaker... Any unique usefull skill she can hone will do.

Just make her descisions her own, develop her character instead of parking it somewhere untill the mc comes back and needs stuff, and give her something she's the best at and can truly contribute through and develop in besides being sexy and thicc.

2.
Secondly, and maybe most importantly, the harem introduces plot-mandatory relationships and romance, which does not only take away screentime from action/adventure/slice-of-life scenes, but sometimes causes issues in the narrative, character-dynamics and way of narration.

With this I mean that romance changes up the pacing, which can be neccesary between the drama, but a harem requires the constant juggling of attention to girls and action, which is not something I've seen done well in any longer action-packed series.

A harem also tends to unbalance the power in a 3 or 5 man group of heroes. For ecample, it becomes hard to have a lancer (The counter-balancing second-in-command type of guy, or what Killua is to Gon in HunterxHunter) with the same influence around. This makes the supporting cast feel more insignificant, which may cause the readers or author to lose interest in them.

A harem also forces the author to create scenarios for relationships, relationship-progress and relationship-maintainance for each harem member. This tends to take up a bunch of screentime and also causes relationships to feel forced. In many stories, such relationships are created through the setting and raising of "flags" and not through genuine character compatibility (the girls need some variability after all).

Long lasting relationships are build on compatible characters and interests and good ongoing dynamics. (The main problems in relationships is that the author forgets to adress the relationship and the changes in characters throughout the stable, established phase of the relationship, so it looks like people don't rly care for each other or are just in it for the smexy stuff, or become useless moeblobs.)

So all in all: let's hope there will be no harems, moeblobs and forced romance here!

This is such an intelligent analysis of the loathed harem route. I sincerely wish that the author doesn’t sell out & sticks to the survival mode of the manhwa as was the case in the early chapters. But I can already feel the slow devolution...
don’t even get me started on the over sexualisation of Sherry n her unnatural waist. Okay girls with big boobs do exist. So discounting that, that is not a Human’s waist. You would probably see it in a skeleton. At least the males with the ripped bodies can get them through workout or steroids...
And why is there not even a single woman contributing intelligently & originally. The only one is Sherry n she is just there for her looks n that skeleton inspired waist. Realistically, I have found that most women are survivors of this world that is perpetually skewed against them from their very birth by virtue of their gender. That persistence to not only survive but live is common amongst women across all races, cultures... And for a survival manhwa to completely dismiss their role is appalling

Few good stories actually exist. more than half of manga/manhwas/webnovels are usually harem. You know how stories usually start with either MC becoming stronger or MC taking revenge with good plot progress but eventually becomes disappointing when the story becomes harem comes. There are a lot of rebirth stories which I dropped when it becomes a harem. They usually only have one love interest but after rebirth it became a harem which is morally fcking disgusting. They tend to forget their original character and intentions only to live in vanity and lust.
The few real good stories are trash count and Omniscient reader, i became the first prince.

Tell me I'm not the only one that made these choked dying noises each chapter...

Hello, I'm a Dutch girl who loves graphical novels ranging from manga to comics. Usually I read everything that piques my interest, but I have a fondness for slice of life tropes and very realistic art.

Edit:
I wanted to leave a comment for my fellow manga lovers about mangago and the large role it plays in my manga purchase.

For an avid reader, I'm someone who's very hesitant to spend money on books (I tend to use my library card for written works) and I consider myself in the "Laggarts" slice of the product adaption curve.

Generally, I use MangaGo for some quick or casual reading and for the community that exists here. It also provides a way for me to recommend and save collections of similar works. MangaGo allows me to read and scout for interesting stories and likable authors (or light novel authors).

Usually, when I notice that I really like a series (often at my second read-through) I will buy the series in bulk as a way to support the author and fill my bookshelves.

Examples of such occurences are: Oyasumi Punpun, Kokou no Hito, Real, Beastars, Made in Abyss, Berserk, Phantom School, Dungeon Meshi, One-punch Man, Boku Dake Ga Inai Machi, Peerless Dad, Sengoku Komachi Kurou Tan!, Isekai Izakaya "Nobu", Kuragehime, Nana, Kakukaku Shikajika, Planetes, Afterschool War Activities, Kino's Journey (Gou), Girls' Last Tour, Soloist of the Prison, Fushigi No Kuni No Bird, Otoyomegatari, The Great Merchant Kim Manduk Manhwa, Seirei No Moribito, Miyori's Forest, Yuusha goikkou no Kaerimichi, Wolf in the house... And many others, but I won't bore you by reciting them all.

If you truely love a series, please consider to (perhaps not buy the whole series like I do, but maybe...) buy the author a coffee or tea to continue their work.

But above all: have fun reading!
