You can also go into your browser settings and make it so that flash plug-ins do not run automatically, but instead you get to right click for "run this plug-in" for each video thing you want to play. (Youtube doesn't count)

I use chrome browser, and install the extension such as Pop-ups blocker and Adblock. I even install Hola to unblock the blocked sites in my country
Use a browser other than Safari - adblock is not available for it, and always sign in with your user name - prevents all ads for me.

What if it's mobile?
Adblock should work on mobiles too, as long as you use the appropriate browser - some browsers are not compatible with adblock.
Dont think there's Adblock for mobile
