I still don't get it, so they become brothers????
in some countries like japan/korea where same sex marriage isnt legally recognized, some samesex couples resorted to things like adult adoption as a workaround, not just to have the same surname or be recognized as family but also for practical safety and security. when the law doesnt recognize ur relationship as a marriage, couples may look for whatever legal structure is available to give them more stability and protection
Just to explain further bc some ppl on here be dense af:
Security means being able to merge bank accounts and have primary care over your partner when they're sick. That way they get to decide what happens to their significant other when they're on life support, struggle mentally because of dementia or other debilitating illnesses.
Stuff that a married hetero couple doesn't have to worry about.

Can u guys recommend more something like this??
