On man x man relationship, they're the one that get the female role. In other words, they're the one that get penetrated or the one in bottom. The opposite of uke is seme, the one that get the male role, the one that inserting and also called the top.

The uke is on the bottom, he is the "girl" in the sex. The seme is the "boy" in the sex.
