In this latest chapter (pg 27) we see Nakyum experience memory and triggers of the last violent experience with No Face. When in trauma and danger our brain doesn't store information or memories in a normal pattern. Think of the memory center in our brain as a library with an organized filing system in place. Everywhere in the library the books are where they are supposed to be.

Then trauma happens and the order shifts. For the first time books are misshelved. Books are opened to find damage, with pages are missing. Some books have no words.

We see Seungho grab Nakyum from behind and cover his mouth (pg 15) which was probably very similar to No Face kidnapping him. This triggered Nakyum. By page 26 we see the heavy breathing and cold sweating.

The next page we see the image of No Face standing over him. Nakyum suddenly has a book with one sentence: DANGER. He loses focus for a few seconds. He comes backs and makes sure to stare at the person behind him. He makes sure to really look. Visually cue- "Is it No Face?" "No...no.. its not him"

I find it reallllyyyy accurate that from that image of No Face, to when Seungho releases him... Nakyum DOES NOT LET SEUNGHO GET BEHIND HIM AGAIN! He's fighting a flashback while trying to manage yet another traumatic experience.

He's going to need to ground in the next chapter or he's gonna have a melt down. I dont believe the placement of Heena-noona in this chapter is an accident. Psychologically speaking, she's gonna be the anchor holding Nakyum's from falling apart or the last straw before all hell breaks loose. I'm telling ya'll right now, it's gonna happen. There's no way that this author didn't research this while writing this portion.

Forecasting: We either going to see a psychological break down of Nakyum falling apart in TOTAL DESPAIR or were going to Nakyum FIGHTING THE FUCK BACK in every way he can. Either way HE. IS. NOT. GOING. TO. BE. THE. SAME. CHARACTER. I'm really hoping that he keeps as much as himself as he can.

I think you overanalyse , the author showed multiple times all the details like bruises, the footprints on the snow and so on never mattered. The sentence that reminded him of the assassin just blocked him again to say the truth (the wording is pretty much the same), and when he covers Nk's mouth, he is not triggered at all, he seems pretty calm (he's not even sweating) and he even helps Seungho to get his robe. You are really overestimating this bad writer
I mean, a servant was killed some chapters ago and there was blood on the snow and since he was an ugly extra no one cared. Nakyum didn't even react to all the rape he endured and you think the author educated herself about trauma response?
Thanks for this. I didn't know about all these different type of responses to danger. And I totally second your opinion, it seems obvious Nakyum is going to have a PTSD breakdown next chapter. In front of everybody there. It wasn't a coincidence that he saw Nameless face when SH talked about violence. And it wasn't a coincidence that Noona came to visit so SH ended up tying up Nakyum the way he did, very similarly to what Nameless did. Noona will be there to further accuse SH and make him face his responsibility. The guilt will consume him. I believe he will let Nakyum leave after that. And it will be the ultimate proof of his redemption. And we might have a season break at that point. Just my theory!
There were really so many scenes in this chapter that screamed either "Hidden Easter Eggs" with the falling of the lamp or the cloth mouth gag. So I wanted to break it down for myself and others.
I think the writer is good. Its the type of writing that gets you invested or makes you walk. If you are still reading the series this far in, they got you. Again, its a comment/opinion, your more than welcome to disagree.

If your expectations of this is "everyone fights back" they you are deeply naive about the subject and grossly mistaken. I don't mind overthinking, because the plot is reaching a pinnacle of change for the character of Nakyum. The title is called "Painter of the Night"" not "Lord of the Sheets". I think alot of people forget that. I'm sure if the servant you are talking about served his purpose in the plot. He was an ass, but did he deserve to be killed off? Why was he killed off? I like to ask questions like that.
I'm hoping we see Nakyum's suffering ending within this season. Its very difficult to see sensitive topics like assault and violence like this in plots but the author is doing a really good job this season showing us a realistic depiction of trauma response. I find comments say because NK "felt good" its not really rape, sad. People don't understand that the body literally is fighting from danger and it will release pleasure hormones to stop physical pain (hyper-arousal states). There are also other emotion/psychological compulsions the brain does to seek increased attachment in the face of danger.

I'm just gonna go out on a limb and say that Heena-noona will be a catalyst for change. She a bad ass.
I am not invested in the story. I am just curious how it will go on because I noticed many, annoying similarities with my favorite manhwa (Killing Stalking), and every week I am disappointed more and more. I know not every rape victim fights back (speaking of which, Killing Stalking is also an excellent depiction of trauma), but Nakyum seems more traumatised by the kidnapping than the rape marathon than almost killed him in season 1. The only thoughts he has about Seungho seem the ones of shojo manga protagonist: "does lord seungho love me? it's not possible!".
Also the title is the English, the Korean (and Japanese) title means Night picture book and the author even said she wanted to name it " A gay scandal in Joseon"
I mentioned the servant because no one noticed his death. If people found him dead, they would be alarmed an assassin was in the mansion but this is not convenient for this dumb misunderstanding plot. There is no reason for the doctor to tell immediately about the kidnapping if he noticed that. Even if he is scared of Seungho, it would have been more logical to tell him so he would have sent a rescue team since the assassin left some traces.
I still think people notice details that aren't important to the author. During the kidnapping, people thought that Seungho being a hunter would have noticed that the footprints on the snow were too big for being Nakyum's (still it's unclear how the assassin kidnapped and released him leaving no traces on the snow, he apparently flies lmao). People thought that Seungho would have realised Nakyum would never escape without his painting tools but it never happened. People thought Seungho noticed the bruises on Nk's wrists but it never happened.
This and the fact I don't think that an author who indulges in a two chapters rape porn without plot is a good author. She likes rape porn and it's ok, but don't tell me this is a masterpiece writing because it's clear it's trash

Those are so out of order on there... I appreciate that you're trying to do something nice but like it really doesn't do the story justice. It just makes it look jumbled and confusing, whereas I have the raws too now and what is happening actually makes a lot of sense even though I can't read them. Maybe it would be better if you uploaded the chapters to individual imgur galleries? Because the way you've got it here is really going to confuse people more

I never went to Renta so quick! For about $10 you get four chapters. (no spoilers here) Read it but its more focusing on the MC backstory. It seems like this wont finish in 10 chapters unless its rushed. I really like the drawing style! They do such a good job on the family dynamics and keeping it comical!
