Now Nanjo...while is the most innocent of the 3 because he was being used for his money and put in a place to please his "boyfriend" (putting boyfriend in quotations because I don't believe either of them actually tried to label this) however he wanted. Now I don't know what the author is setting this up for so we'll see if Nanjo is completely innocent but the way he reacted to the news of Sunhwa playing him didn't sit right with me. He was too calm, I feel like he didn't or doesn't care that he was being used because I feel like he also was using them both too. He was exploring his sexuality but he began liking his dynamic with Mok too much and lost himself in this twisted game they were playing.

I kind of like that Jungkook became a bit forgettable as Hyunjin fell for Chanyoung because to me it proves the Hyunjin was really only relying on his crush for his hyung to make him into this big figure in his life.
Jungkook even said he isn't that good of a person because he knew Hyunjin's feelings and still lead him around just to avoid his own bs. The hint of the guy he's looking for is obvious the Jungkook has a more different past.
Chanyoung and Hyunjin fit so well together: it was easy to see how they would fall from the grumpy misunderstood "playboy" to the sunshine good boy who wears his feelings on his sleeves. It's very cute story, the 10 year skip with their dog seriously made my heart swell.
While added side stories are nice. I'm also not shocked if they get none because this is a such a through and through love that anymore would just be filler. I don't want a Cherry Blossoms issue (if anyone is currently reading the new "side/season 4")
I do hope we get a Jungkook and mystery man story though.

Ross is a spiraling addict that is constantly chasing his fix and is never satisfied due to never having the original high (Shin being his best high yet) and you see in his mannerisms how he's not functioning correctly, is high strung, and becoming increasingly dangerous.
While Jake is a high functioning addict; from the outside you wouldn't be able to see much of issue. Think old Hollywood actors that snort just enough coke or pops pills to stay alert.
He's well behaved and quick on his feet but you notice the moment he can be near Shin, he's immediately touching him, kissing and or licking his skin...he's getting his fix.
Caesar is correct that Jake is different...he is obsessed with Shin...

But Jae is supposed to become a better person and I still stand by what I say when I believe Dan deserves a love that doesn't come with baggage. I thought it would have been a good idea to have Jaekyung earning Dan's love and affection back over a course of weeks maybe months through therapy and communication but instead we get the Kdrama trope of almost dying for him to beg and cry and that's it.
That's not how he should learn his lesson, Dan didn't deserve to almost be killed for Jae to finally understand his feelings better and/or become a better person.
I like that Jae isn't all around nice guy still (it's cute he's only soft for his boyfriend) but I just really wished the love/sweet scenes out weigh the bad ones.
Maybe some bonus side stories will soften the story more.
