I love the heavy symbolizing in this. The train plays a huge part and makes you understand a bit more what’s happening. For me, the last chapter where they both chase each other and end up in the train, them getting on the train means that Kanou is finally accepting and letting himself fall in love and not be lonely. The train symbolizes him moving on his journey with his lover, someone he loves, the train, being a safe place, where a friend ( the student) saved him and gave him hope.
This is just what I think but this scene is very important, the growth in him, they way once he let himself be loved , he wanted to stop thinking about his ex and the possibility of them breaking up. Referring to when he says he was a little down and doesn’t want to think about it or it will make his future self unhappy. Such a master that will stay on my mind for weeks.
