weird ass take ngl. i had sex with my gf while at my parents' house in high school. teenagers get horny and have sex. i'd rather they do it in the privacy of their own home with a consenting, age-appropriate partner than sneaking about and being unsafe.

sorry accidentally clicked post. the usa stat comes from the us census bureau data. and around 7.2 mil 18-34 year olds live with their parents in the uk. due to the current economic shitshow, living seperate from one's parents is less and less feasible. are you saying as much as 42% of british ADULTS should not have sex? or are you saying that teenagers should not have sex (i.e. abstinence)?

Is it kinda the opposite of your parents having sex you know? It's not wrong, but it's weird to think it happened. Now add that with the fact that you're still in high school and having sex in your parents' house? It's not even purity culture for me, it's just weird as hell. At least my parents are married they can do whatever they want. Teenagers get horny and have sex, sure, but you're not gonna fall apart without it and honestly, there are so many ways to express love other than sex. Most teenagers have sex in the first place bc of curiosity and porn. I'm just saying, it's not a popular opinion. Adults, go have sex. Teenagers? Not really.
So by essentially shaming teenagers into believing they shouldn't be having sex, that makes them sneak around to do it in unsafe and possibly unprotected conditions. I'd rather get caught and lectured by my parents in the comfort of my own home than potentially be in a dangerous situation. Also, where did you get teens having sex from porn? They will have sex regardless because its a human thing to do
i've just graduated university this summer and i've been living on my own for half a decade. even with hindsight, i think it's okay to let teenagers have sex in their parents' home. my experience as a youth social worker has only supported this view.
also, until fairly recently i hadn't engaged in any pornography. i was honestly sexually clueless and a bit of a bumbling fool as a teenager LMAO. i also don't think it's weird that ny parents have had sex. they have four kids and have been married for over 20 years. most healthy adults have sex, and most people start thinking about it/developing their sexuality around age 16. i just hope that those confused 16 year olds find an understanding and safe environment to support healthy sexual development, instead of repressed and shameful losers

Not a criticism, but around chapters 8 to 9, I genuinely think Ash was being overly pushy with Carlyle. Like, I don't think I ever see anyone talk about this but when he offered to leave because he thought he was making Carlyle feel uncomfortable, I don't understand why after that, they continued on. Like, Carlyle said he wasn't used to this why are they not taking things slow and jumping straight to it
