Idk why she's so possessive (maybe it's just her nature) bcuz in the original novel, the "happily ever after" ending was a lie.
Bitch became jealous to even her own childrens & was so terrifying that the ML has to lock her up until her death to protect his childrens & peoples (I think he still loved her which why he didn't want a divorce? Anyway this is from the spoilers I've read)
tbh I think elabitch didn’t know what to do after she reached the ending of the book. bc the book was a guideline to her and how she was suppose to act around the dude, when she reached the ending you couldn’t put a facade anymore cause she doesn’t know how to act till then. i mean you can’t replace someone literally since you are yourself tbh im guessing she was an egotistic NEET spoiled brat in her own timeline or she had some trauma from back then that cause her to have a possessive psychotic personality yk
