Yknow the blockhead homophobic top trope? "I don't wanna be intimate with you because you don't have reproductive capabilities but you also can't sleep with other people of your own volition because your my possession and that would really hurt my fragile ego" typa guy? It's so ass. ML's character is all over the place, does the author even know whatthe heck it is they're writing? And with the MC, I wished he didn't turn into an omega because at that point can we even really tell if the this trash guy loves him for who he is or is it because trash guy can now be in a heteronormative relationship with MC? Boooo *tomato *tomato
This. I abhor the concept of mc turning into an eta before ml treats him better - from the get-go, ml’s attitude was wrong towards mc, so if mc turns into an omega, then any changes in ml’s philosophy would just be attributed to that change, which then leaves the same problematic prejudices the ml has intact and his “love” quite questionable. Yeah, that kind of narrative full of holes just ain’t my cup of tea, either.
i 100% agree. The writing is honestly all over the place for me. Some times i think the ML doesn’t want to sleep with the MC because he has trauma from when he was younger but the author honestly isn’t doing well with expanding on that. It’s like they can’t choose between going that route or the homophobic reproductive route you were mentioning. It’s weird and annoying. And this story is only going to get more frustrating because, is the ML feeling true feelings towards the MC or is it because of his new omega traits?? Who knows atp. Like ugh, authors need to retire from this troupe.
The author is doing a great job as it is a book before it was a manhwa and it’s very easy to understand. Not being handfed information in a story doesn’t mean the author is doing a bad job. Please work on your own literacy.
Also the “trope” has historically been relevance and is the sole reason omegaverse even exists. If you do not like omegaverse do not read omegaverse stories. It was created in fanfic and focused on this specific trope you hate. That’s why it is so common. It’s like complaining fantasy has heroes.
Reducing the ML to a homophobic top is kinda missing the point I fear. Did we forget that his FATHER tied him up as a child and forced him to watch him have sex with his beta partner as again a CHILD. That’s sexual trauma and not homophobia. It’s not because of the reproductive issues here. The book did a better job at explaining it even if at times it felt glossed over.
"Please work on your own literacy" brother I'm giving my two cents on a piece of media that's arguably mid at best. My literacy is trying its best to rationalize this manhwa and the copious amount of bad writing it has. Please do note "manhwa" and not novel.
Also hating the "trope" does not equal hating the concept, you are strawmanning the point. The subversion of the overarching storyline of Alpha x Beta with the Alpha being shown to be averse to the Beta because he can't get pregnant is ruined by the Beta being willed by the Alpha to turn into an Omega. Now, of course the Alpha is going to love him because he's an Omega with pheromones and pregnant. Glossing over the real love they had beyond pheromones and procreation. Did he ever really love him before? The trope is literally the beta has to be an omega to have a happy ending with the alpha. "You have to change your whole being to be deserving of love" doesn't that sound depressing? And NO, I'm going to keep reading omegaverse stories, who are you to stop me?
heyyy just adding my 2 cents here there nay be spoilers so read with caution i dont think the novel is like 10/10 amazing read its gonna go down in history as a classic, but i also think the manhwa doesnt really do the novel justice (mostly bc we dont see all of the characters’ thoughts, for example gihyeon hid his dog tags in the first chapter bc yeonoh nags him wearing them all the time since he was injured there, but thats not explained in the manhwa). i can see how it comes off like irl hetcomp homophobia, wanting to have been born the opposite sex so u can be socially acceptable with ur partner, but in this case yeonoh has always loved gihyeon, but bc of that trauma his father inflicted on him as a child he thought if he loved gihyeon romantically/sexually he would be “dirtying” gihyeon. he wanted to preserve their pure love and thought the best way to do that was platonically, but thats what was hurting gihyeon. in the novel its addressed as well multiple times where the situation/gihyeon questions whether yeonoh loves him now bc hes an omega and if they wouldnt have gotten together if he were a beta. that said tho yeonoh is definitely obsessive, but they both work on their respective problems (gihyeons repression/avoidance, yeonohs possessiveness) in order to make things work. not the most perfect happy ending, but i think more applicable to real world relationships where feelings cannot totally gloss over conflict, and people are constantly in a state of improvement. you should def read the novel when u can but fair warning the angst/runaway arc is a little longer than it shouldve been imo, but still an entertaining read even if its not the best written story. yeonoh and gihyeon are a very aggravating couple
Damn yall just ruined this story for me even more. Didn't ask for spoilers but here we are. Thanks tho, dropping this earlier than I have planned. Which is right now lol. Not only is the story aggravating, so are the die-hard fans... like, is this really the hill yall wanna die on? On this D-tier ahh story? Well... be my guests
lol there’s DEFINITELY better omegaverse story out there. If you like this type, that’s fine. Doesn’t mean we have to, though. And it doesn’t change the fact that author is leading this to an unsatisfying ending for some readers - I think it’s just disappointing and a disservice to the omegaverse and the characters to solve the whole story by changing the sex of the mc. Albeit I know there are times one would like to just turn their brain off and dismiss that, I personally don’t find it satisfying.
I don’t have qualms with the fans supporting the author if they man up this is the trope they like BUT THEY PUSH their delulu narrative onto readers who may have a more logical streak than them - I don’t hate the author but I’m not reading this because it genuinely is NOT enjoyable for me because the ethics are all over the place and I already know I won’t be satisfied with SETTLING on mc’s a “happy” ending with ml only because he changed his sex. “Don’t read omegaverse then” yeah, right, as if this is the standard and the best omegaverse can offer???? There are definitely better omegaverse stories out there. This kinda fans ugh. Anyway I’m with you on this… dropped it
“Didn’t ask for spoilers” yet you are making presumptuous and harmful comments when the story isn’t even over and when people told you that it would make more sense later you got an attitude, so someone kindly explained why you were both wrong and right but you cuss them out for the favour, and insult every fan of the work be it the book or the manhwa. Gtfoh
The story isn’t being “solved” or “fixed” by him turning into an omega. It complicates it and drives it forward. It’s a plot point not a “solution”. The author uses the most classic trope in omegaverse and constructs a story on it, not the other way around. It’s the catalyst which makes their situation worse, before they can work it out. It said this was omega x alpha and beta to omega in the tags from the beginning. Don’t like don’t read.
Also, I never said this was THE best omegaverse. I said that making incorrect statements about the story which is set up to unravel slowly as we go on, and not being hand fed information is low literacy and a disservice to the actual author of the book. And that omegaverse is literally built on this specific trope. It is the blueprint.
Oh please. There’s definitely better omegaverse stories out there. Or some with the same trope and has been carried out better. I’m not looking to be spoon fed information, just better pacing. And the novel, i like. I just don’t really like how it’s being illustrated here, and that’s fine lol. My media literacy is fine, just because you don’t like my opinion doesn’t mean it’s any less or not as intelligent as yours. Weirdo.
actually ykw, no. i wish i can edit my last reply to you but since i can’t i’ll say it here. the changed sex troupe is annoying. it has been done fine by other authors sure whatever but i personally think it’s lazy and then it leads down this complicated path of “does he like ME or the fact that i’m an omega” which is annoying. exploring the alpha x beta troupe and going through the difficulties together as a non typical couple would’ve been interested to read. but it’s okay, i’ll go search for that somewhere else because there are PLENTY of omegaverse stories that doesn’t have a character switching secondary genders. and while it does annoy me, sometimes i will read one to see how it goes. like this one. i did not like the manwha but i read the novel and although it was annoying at times, i like the main character and a few other characters as well and that’s why i stayed. i was curious to see how the mc would adapt to this change. the ML pisses me off but whatever. if we’re talking about the novel i can say i definitely have good things to say. but this manwha… idk i just don’t like how the story is being told. but because of that i have media illiteracy? sure ok. that’s your opinion. and i said it before and i’ll say it again, your analogy at the end was stupid.
I don’t think it has be that way just because it’s omegaverse. You may not have said it’s THE best, but why should people not read omegaverse just because they find this bad? Omegaverse works don’t have to follow this trope, I don’t think it’s the blueprint - authors can get creative with the concepts after all. I find this story unsatisfactory, I never said you shouldn’t read it. And how much literacy does it require someone to figure out the simple points that make them dislike how the story was weaved? Read the comments again - people literally give you the reason. I understand if you like the story and can stretch your bandwidth understanding where the story is going (that’s your prerogative). But I still stand by the fact that the story is not good, and I don’t doubt my own judgment on that
This is not the blueprint. There are better developments out there in omegaverse. Why should they stop trading omegaverse just because this story in particular is bad? Funny you mention literacy, when that is literally what some are exercising when they said they don’t like this story. Also it didn’t even take that much literacy to understand where the author is going. I understand if this is your preference and have bandwidth for it, because this is your taste, but I stand by what I said - there are better stories out there in omegaverse which don’t feed you information as you claim (no one said that but you btw) and I dropped this with sound judgment.
