I liked how the start made me completely hate on Taehyun, but he grew on me the more I read on his back-story. I didnt forgive him, but I understood him better. I liked how their relationship grew - pacing was good. Dayeol was never submissive and weak, he stood his ground in his own way whilst falling in love. I especially like the bittersweet OPEN ending. I think this is important as Taehyun has so much emotional shit to sort out first to give the relationship a good grounding and start.
Sooner or later, you will be reminded of it and wish to read it again, and drown yourself once more in all the feelings it gave you. Hollow Lovers is most definitely in that category for me. It ticks off so many positive boxes - both MCs attractive and charismatic in their own right, awesome character growth for both, consensual sex at all times, strength and tenacity thru personal trials, and an honest deep abiding love and sense of togetherness thru it all. An absolute masterpiece I shall revisit many times over.
I liked that the uke is naive but he isnt stupid nor weak. I can see him as a very attractive 25 year old with lots of street smart but forever having that cute smile. Takara the seme when he said sorry to the family pic had me LOL. Oni-chann needs to fucking pack his bag and just leave planet Earth, the creep! And finally, I cant tell if Granny is the real MVP, or the cockroaches.
Torao has got to be one of the most tenacious and determined uke I have ever had the chance to read. When he loves, he LOVES. The fact that Hikaru B waited another 250 years for him in that wasteland, the fact that Torao went out to look for him despite a 1% chance of finding him, ahhhhh. I was in tears at how awesomely bittersweet this was. Gold and deserves a much higher rating.
One of those rare BLs where all the MCs - tops and bottoms - are gorgeously manly and hawt as hell. Saito for me especially, that man is soh fine!! But I love Natsume's character best. Strict and efficient with work that he might come off as coldly professional, yet truth is he is so considerate and compassionate with his lover and friends. I love the laidback friendship all 4 of them had, and even Keiko, the ex-wife had a decent character, she wasnt shown to be some major biatch but in truth a fujoshi like the rest of us, lol. I preferred the feels of Vol 2 more, but def both volumes are great and worth re-reading again in the future.
I mean, sure she's really cute and her intentions are pure but geez, that girl is seriously NAIVE and DENSE. What is she, 20 yrs old? 21? 22? Her obtuse innocence is starting to grate on me. I mean, I want her to stay the cute Rio she is, just a bit more street smart about things, ya know? And the two men - I am rooting for Fujishima for now, simply because Hikaru on the surface seems nice but he is actually quite sly and got her drunk. And if Fujishima didnt intervene, who knows what cudv happened?
Their relationship development stumbles and fumbles and is sweet and adorable in turn. They are both awkward and slightly tsundere, a little wary and prickly so it makes a great brew of a story!
