choking up on my tears right now wth i hate that this is how life truly is for some people sometimes, for those that never dared to take the next step because the people around them reinforced the fact that choosing yourself is selfish.. i hope Kirino is able to experience true happiness in whatever he tries to find
the novel had so much abuse, written so explicitly and horribly like god i cried for knox.. i thought i would be happy towards the end with the mls suffering and him getting his revenge but at what cost? knox, originally was a kind man in his own, weird way but the knox towards the end is stuck in this cycle of abuse, never to return so honestly there’s no good ending for him here. i mean, sure the redemption/wife chasing arc felt momentarily satisfying but it didn’t feel like either of the mls ever loved knox but instead only possessed a weird sense of obsession for him.
khalid made knox suffer in the worst way possible and now, knox continues to make him suffer (but it doesn’t even come close to all the ways in which khalid made him suffer.) i wish knox could heal and move on with esterion but he’s far too gone for that, unfortunately.
mc’s parents are a part of this weird cult that sacrifices humans and eats their flesh in order to gain immortality. they target mc because they think he’s almost like god because of his syndrome where he doesn’t age at all. it almost happened to jintae, the guy who’s always with mc, when he was a child. in order to escape and survive, he offered to bring the cult a new sacrifice regularly and acts as the carrier in return for letting him go. he’s sponsored by mc’s father so he’s been with mc since they were kids and he confesses all of this to mc when they’re both adults and says it was the mc that changed him and made him want to be better and that he loves him so now, mc and jintae both want to get rid of the club.
not sure when and where this fire incident took place but there was a fire at the cult and director yoon was the child who was supposed to be the sacrifice at that time but jintae rescues him. director yoon does like the mc. he mentions something about the mc being his cure and his god.
seungtae is revealed to be jintae’s brother and the mc finds out that he had been lying to him all this time and he does that because he thought that would be the only way that mc would care about him. seungtae is now acting as the new carrier for the cult which still hasn’t disbanded (from what i understood) and it is seungtae that tells mc about director yoon being the child who was almost sacrificed.
mc is thinking of his past where we now find out that the cult is performing “immortality experiments” (i’m not sure in what way) and they’re using jintae, mc and rohee (good looking white haired guy that we see at the orphanage) as subjects. the place was later set on fire and everyone was trying to escape. there is a mystery man that brings mc out of the fire who is not revealed yet because jintae and rohee had already gone outside.
season 1 ends with mc, jintae and rohee switching from place to place but they finally decide to stop wandering around and live at one place and mc finds jintae flirting with the servant boy of the house the three of them were living in and that is when he realizes that jintae doesn’t love him at all.
there is more to assistant hyeop than meets the eye.. i guess we’ll find out soon. i’m excited for season 2.

started this in 2023 and it’s been 3 years, oh boy. i hope jo finds all the happiness in the world
