I read the novel.. and ik she's supposed to be small(she's still an adult tho) but really, i think they went a bit overboard with the size difference in manhwa too that guy has no business being that tall..

Shes 153 cm so she's definitely on the smaller adult side although i wouldn't use the word loli But I am disappointed too because she was drawn so mature on the novel covers.

She looks like a child aight? I'm also sometimes weirded out a little cus it felt like a 37 y/o adult flirts with a kid. solely by appearance, she seems to be the most fit with kiddo cus he also kinda looks like a child

No I get u fully. 100%. For me it's not about about her body because some people can actually look like that.

The problem is because the author has given her the personality of a elementary school child. She has no empathy, compassion, responsibility, everyone pampers (esp. The male characters esp. her celestial, indulges her like she is a child) & this part is still palatable but she seems to do nothing for the world or even her family.

Mind u, not every can have such mental weight. But also her family is lower middle class during her father's death. He dies tragically & money was a prominent factor. This 20 year woman is also an S-Rank who can do much to avoid the tragedy her father went through but she passes by her life with chips & games (lol not sure which gamer in the world will ignore game world that became reality, coz she manages to do that)

Yea that really encapsulates how I feel with Jyo. I get that some people look like that but how the author portrays her as a character really makes it seem like she was meant to be a child.

I don't think you've read much of the story. Cause she really isn't as immature and irresponsible as you believe. Mind you, she didn't even want the power at first cause she would be burdened by it. But her celestial told her she could do what she wishes, nobody will force her. That's why she's keeping her identity secret. But that doesn't mean she's oblivious to everything. Whenever a strong disaster happens, she gets summoned by the bureau. The first time a level 1 rift opened and she made her first appearance, she was heavily injured afterwards. She doesn't go out of her way to help, but she would protect those she considers her own. And the whole country & the people can be considered as that. Don't worry about their financial problems either, the government took care of her since she became a S rank. They brought up jio and jirok elsewhere so her mother will have less trouble, she was already troubled with the sickly geumhee. And jirok earns more than enough already. Jio sure gets pampered quite a bit, by silver lion guild, her brother and others. But you can't just put emphasis on that one thing. She's a bit selfish, arrogant even..but she knows when to step up and take responsibility. I think that's good enough.

People can read the same story but takeaways can be different depending on critical thinking skills. U don't have to mention that we didn't read the story just because we didn't have same opinions.


The things u mentioned are story-based microcosm. Its good enough for you because it reflects your world-view. The things sleepy bean & are critiquing is the structure & ideology of the story's framework. They are 2 different things.

For me, I was initially excited about an op female hunter manga. I was like "omg, finally!". N reading the manga felt like a slap. The examples u give actually prove my point.

1. "She gets summoned by the bureau". "Her celestial told her"; "she didn't even want the power in the 1st place".... all of these sentences of yours, that u dont seem to notice yourself. She is the main character but she has "no agency". All her actions are driven by the machinations of somebody else's necessity. This may be alright with u but I'm not waiting with bated breath for a mediocre female mc who can't even decide what she should do on her own without external stimulus.

2. You also said "she is not oblivious to everything". I wish she was oblivious then readers would at least view her as innocent but she is very aware of the world around her, the expectations of her country & people much weaker to her like her father look up to her & still the author characterised her as apathetic & indifferent. It is the language of contempt. Contempt doesnt make any human enlightened only pitiful & disgusting. A good story would give her admirable qualities not a common quality that all unsuccessful people have.

3. You also said that I shouldn't worry about her financial problems. Seems like u didn't get me at all. The origin of the female mc is her initial household setting, the family environment which is formatory reason for what makes her tick. This is true for any of us. It moulds her persona.

She is from a lower-middle class family & we can critically understand this because her father cannot even pay her elementary school fees & also help out her grandma doc fees. Finances might have been a big factor in their household discussions when she was growing up. She is also the oldest child, those values would have been etched in her lived experience & again "what makes her tick".

When she was chosen by her celestial, she wasn't yet aware that her father had died for sure. N any child with normal functioning empathy would say "okay, I accept. I need the power to save my dad now. I don't know where he is etc". For some reason female mc says "NO" & the art rendering highlights it in a way as if it's some "declaration of female liberty". She didn't even have the conscience to do it for her dad. Let's not even mention the grief of losing her father that she finally got the memories at that dungeon. The author just brushes the whole affair beneath the carpet like it's nothing--by that I'm explaining to u because u read stories just within the microcosm of the story. The female's dismissal of her own father's death. That kind of characterisation is problematic. We can have a powerful mc but not both a powerful & also a sociopathic one in a light shoujo manga. Do u get? That's not how story-telling goes. Just because the art is light & breezy, one should forget the implications.

U also accused me of not reading & commenting, just because my analysis is more in-depth & u didn't takeaway the same as I.

Anyway, I wanted to mention the above because I'm not emotionally invested as u seem to be. I am also not attacking u or any others readers who love the manga. Please go ahead & enjoy. Isnt that the whole point of these mangas. But for me, I'm unable to read blindly without analysing the plotlines, problematic characterisation, the very obvious traditional gender narratives in such pieces that caters to female readers etc

Ig it's a difference in how we took it. For me..i realised If I went and analysed the moral values of every mc like this..i wouldn't really have anything to read. She is sure inempathic, in the ways you mentioned. I read further into the novel and got the feeling that the author tried to portray her as such in many cases. It might be bad, but honestly..these manhwas aren't exactly created to teach moral lessons. Kids laugh at way more serious things these days. it's also a bit hard to understand since we don't know everything, and realistically speaking, it's hard to judge a character's actions when they have various experiences and responsibilities like this, also the past lives and time travel thing is making this complicated. Even when she got her memories, her reaction was pretty lukewarm and i couldn't get what she was thinking. I'm not really trying to defend her. It's just..i think its somewhat reasonable enough to read. I like the plot overall, it's unique at least. And she does really get more self-reliant. She gets more interaction, helps others too. The celestial is always there hovering over her like a mother hen, which also makes me annoyed. But she takes many things on her hands. And for me.. I still disagree with the middle class thing, cause first of all, she lost many memories of that time, at the period you're mentioning. Then their financial status got much better. She didn't need to care for that. And it was, itched into her so that's why I'm guessing she didn't react much at the dungeon even after getting those memories back cause the time was enough to get used to many things.

I am just so terribly disappointed by this manga as a reader. That's all. I think currently there are less than 10 female hunter mc manga out in the wolrd. All of them are written in the same way. We need the reader market to mature for some years to get sublime work. I just have to wait for a few more years ε=ε=(ノ≧∇≦)ノ

Yea those stories are even more ridiculous because most of them are framed like childcare stories, like how tf am I supposed to appreciate the father and/or brother doting on the FL like a child when she’s actually an adult?? It just comes across as creepy, infantilizing, obsessive, and controlling, rather than heartwarming

which chick? marianne? or selena? marianne is the other white haired girl who framed fl in her past life and overtook her life, selena im assuming is a demon/another spirit marianne made a contract but i also assume shes selena because she looks a lot like the statues of selena, the edenverre goddess of revenge (with the veil and all)
