a lot of people actually do that, in america or western countries in general do carry their babies on their back as well, especially when they have to do something (making milk, house chores, etc). but they don't usually go outside with babies on their back. the babies usually are in strollers or adults carry them in front of their body (so the baby can be in their sight). korean and japan also do this. it just depends on the situation and practicality but they do carry babies both on their back and their front as well
