The plot is terrible writing and it makes me laugh at people praising it. I really knew a majority of readers of BL are desperate for gay content they had lad low standards but this bottom of the barrel bad and they still lap the shit up like they’re dying in a desert. Worse are those claiming it’s “realism”, like have you actively lived beyond 2D pictures and still say such a thing with a straight face? Honestly I’ve come to conclusion they’re too young or BL has warped all sense of reality for them.

anyways but now that you said all that, it just means the author didn't really look at the bigger picture where everything has consequences, reasons and results but simply focused on what she wanted to happen and that's bout it

You’re literally saying it’s the bare minimum that’s impressed you, you do realize that? That’s mostly our point. Much of this genre doesn’t actually care about the storytelling it’s just a vehicle for the sexual imagery. And that’s okay but it’s a disservice to itself firstly and harmful secondly in its misled depiction of reality. It wouldn’t be an issue of this was a plot about unicorns and dragons, but instead relies on factual realities. So for readers who already have a indoctrinated warped idea of sex and relationships sometimes as young as preteens consuming this literature and then note having ability to see past anything other than Eunwoo is some sex god who destroyed someone’s life but it’s okay he’s in love, are the same people who continue to allow men like Chris Brown to have a career. They’re the same people giving the benefit of the doubt to Donald Trump. The same people who allow Brock Turner to rape a drunk woman behind a dumpster and reason him going to jail would ruin a RAPist’s life. This is the sort of rape and abuse apologia that is rampant in this genre and is deeply embedded in its entire mindset and consumption. So again for a character like Eunwoo do what he’s done and the response is well at least he feels sorry, is the summation of what’s is wrong with this genre to the core. Not even the romanticization of rape and abuse but rather the total desensitization of it.

ok um so number 1: i apologize tht I said something insensitive because I wasn't necesarrily forming a connection between a yaoi manhwa and real life.

number 2: but um i can't help but feel emotionally attacked by a few assumptions that you guys imply to be making about me as a person and my decisions/opinions in real life. this was my opinion in comparison to other YAOI semes, not actual relationships/ppl because even im not stupid enough to think this is a truly healthy relationship

I agree with you and the thing I think many people who read and watched bl is that it's not real, its fiction. You need to be able to separate fiction and reality. Just bc some people actually likes the character and the story doesnt mean they would accept iif it would happen in real life. I personally loved both the story and character development and I would never be okay with anything like this in reality. Idk if anyone here has seen TharnType but that's a good example. I would never want a relationship like theirs irl nor am I okay with it but I still really loved the show and that's bc I can separate fiction from reality. All and all I'm not trying to "junp" or attack someone and I agree with the op's comment :)

For the people who dislike the storyline and shit and complain about it, just dont read it. If you cant separate fiction from reality then I dont think you should read yaoi from the start because let's face it, it doesn't have the most healthy relationships and storylines. If it bothers you that f*cking much then just dont read it. Check comments and reviews from other websites and itll usually tell you if the storyline contains rape or toxic relationships bc what you say, like the OP said, might feel like a personal or emotional attack (￣∇￣")

1. In many, maybe not this one but many, manga manhwa manhua there are these "attentions" in the beginning saying that this us pure fiction and none of it is based of reality. Now, as far as I know, we dont know whether or not the author actually wanted to do "tell us" that this is ok or not which I'm certain they dint think. They also think that because its fiction people will of course criticize it but still be able to understand that it only is fiction. Also I havent read what you gave as examples and I myself do a "background check" on what I read before I read it. It's different for every person but if you know what you're getting yourself into then I dont think you should complain that much. Like I said before, yaoi stories are usually everything but realistic just because they're for entertainment purposes only. Im not trying to defend the raping turning to love but you have to understand that its fiction and even tho it's wrong and disgusting it's what occurs in the majority of yaoi mangas and its hard to find ones without it.

2. Now I understand and agree with what you're saying about it being wrong with all the stereotypes and nothing but sex in the stories but then again we read them often bc there is smut in them. Of course the storyline plays a big part in us liking the stories but if we didnt want any smit whatsoever we would read shounen ai, right? Now, I'm not going to argue with what you said about both yaoi and yuri sexualizing lesbians and gays but I do wanna say as a bisexual woman I dont find it hard to read them bc I always take them with a pinch of salt and I understand that it's just fiction. What annoys me is that even tho its fiction and it very clearly says so some people still think that is how life is for a gay man or woman.

Also the whole disrespecting my partner by sleeping with his abuser part knowing this information was honestly truly disgusting and again the uke is the one forced to forgive the transgression. Plus the other examples you’ve mentioned are considered BL royalty despite how little narrative worth they actually provide. I don’t know Blue sometimes when I come into the comment section and I know there are such few people like you far and in between in makes me question is this genre just not for me any longer? I’ve read BL for so many years of my life and I’ve come to a point that I have just to accept this genre does not want to evolve and nor does much of its audience.

Back to a previous comment, I'm not telling you not to criticize but if every yaoi manga, like you have stated, is rapey and stereotyping and if it really bother you so fucking much then just stop. Its obviously your choice to read it and no one is forcing you so I dont see why you keep going if you hate it so much. And if you have trouble finding anything that you dont think is realistic if is "rapey" I'd me more than happy to give you a full on list of good ones, manga, manhwa and manhua.Σ( ￣□￣||)
