literally anyone is fine as long as it isn’t as or asgnas or whatever his name is. like no hate no shame to him i like him as a character, he checks off all of the green flag points but like… i beg as a fun uncle type or something i can’t see her getting with the crown prince but honestly i can’t really see the chemistry between them? like he obv has a crush on her but she’s got so much love and adoration from everybody and their mama and their dragon dog i can’t see them getting together in the current time line. he acts more like a side character than a main one, he doesn’t really have powers’ other than nepotism and i do really like his dynamic with his father/emperor cause a lot of times they have a really shitty relationship (also the emperor is just so fucking funny i love the way they depict him but instead he’s just a guy. maybe i should pay more attention but they also never mention how old louis is? they said he looked around her brother’s age? i can also never tell how old these characters are period cause one panel they’re fully grown TILL THE MOMENT YOU PUT THEM NEXT TO AN ACTUAL ADULT AND I SWEAR THEY SHRINK

i am really rooting for the shadows the emperor + empress are really funny characters innately by their sheer insanity but as many people pointed out they just exploit their workers to hell, providing them unfair contracts, legally binding them or its off with you, your family, and their dogs pet turtle’s head #－.－) plus the fact that all the shadows wanna do is reclaim their land + get scrutinized / discriminated against due to their physical appearance + sheer association with the shadows based on said appearance is NOT looking good optics wise for the empire lololol blah blah blah the emp+empr defeated the old emperor…okay…apparently they’re still treating their workers like shit so what have they really accomplished ??
and also, as many people have said (again) the ml is kinda creepy sometimes? some of the moments are really cute (i.e. her lily dress, spending time with her, taking care of her,) but others it’s just really really controlling (deciding she doesn’t have a say in whether the engagement is annulled or not) and that time when her father is looking at ml and he essentially glares at the mention of their annulled engagement??? hello ??? all this to say something about him feels spiritually israeli and honestly, i don’t think there’s gonna be that nuanced “death to the empire” , “give back their land” , “workers unite under unfair conditions” , or fuck even just racism is bad guys let’s stop type of topics are ever going to be touched upon in this manhwa.
still, with that being said and set aside: i love the fl. she is just so done with the royal family its so good. plus, her brother is so utterly insane yet also living my dream? i’ve seen a lot of criticisms against the fl that i do agree with, but i support women’s rights and wrongs so
I like the premise and the art style—cannot and will not complain about the way characters are drawn,, but the story just feels… lack luster? the idea is there but it’s not at the same time?? i’m not entirely hooked but i’ll prob keep an eye out and binge read once there’s enough chapters
